The black ones are French Black Copper Marans. They lay a dark brown egg.

This is the first time in many years that I haven't done garlic. Bummed about it.

For it to do well here and fit in with my wife's garden items (minimal garden real estate) I needed to have planted it in October.

Would that be like a big stock pot for making soup? ;)

I'm just tired of hauling the ladder down to the coop so my wife can clean it, this will be much easier for me! :)

Set the posts in concrete today, if it's not raining tomorrow after work I'll get the deck boards on.

I had a guy send me some about 7 years ago after he had a bumper crop. I've been propagating it every since. The cloves are about 3 times the size of the garlic you buy in the store. I thought I lost it when I moved, but found some still growing at my parents house and got it going again.

Same here. 5 degrees Saturday when I woke up, and we topped out with a high of 11. Not exactly garden weather, lol.

we got spoiled the last couple winters where snow was pretty much melted off by now, we still have snow on the ground and its snowing right this minute! It really puts a damper on quad riding and any thoughts of gardening or fishing!

Thank you. Planning to expand this year, traditional in ground this time for larger plants like squash and melons. Soil is really bad though, will have to bring in compost (have chickens) to get it going.
