I was curious about that. I'm trying Cantaloupe and watermelons this year; first time growing them so we'll see how they like the cooler climate here in ME. But I've got a pyramid-style lattice rigged up for them. You'll have to keep us posted on how the horizontal style works for you!

    Adding some extra fertilizer, probably.

:broccoli: Here is our garden that contains broccoli, onions, some herbs, green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, and squash. We also have 8 fruit trees cherry peach nectarine apple and apricot, and some raspberries and grapes. We also have a pretty decent compost pile going. Now you know what I use the truck for....

Nope. My Tacoma will handle a yard of mulch without any trouble, but a yard of damp topsoil or manure is more of a struggle for her. She'll do it, but her rear sags like an old lady's.
But, that's why we bought this thing:

3/4 ton rear leafs means that a yard of manure only squats the rear about 2 inches. :D

Garlic, haha! Nothing else really. I can grow September-planted spinach and lettuce under hoop houses until the beginning of November, usually, but beyond that it's just too cold unless you've got a real actual greenhouse.

Hey guys, here's my small bed of onions in the back yard and my garden spot in the front area.... I put potatoes in the ground in the first of April and should be ready usually the first week of July. I planted some peppers and tamatoes over the weekend, I'll get some more pics when they get a little bigger. SDC10361_zps10a81fe4_ad661c91c184bb58ce9f8b403fc1330a3d2cf189.jpg

    Great!
We tried potatoes in the ground last year, but it was such a wet summer that anything deeper than about 6 inches turned to vodka. So this year we bunkered that part of the yard off and turned it into a raised bed, and we're going to try growing our potatoes in barrels instead.

It was a wet winter here and it finally dried out to get them in the ground, I've seen people grow them in bales of straw also in this area, not sure how big they get.

We need some here, I think Thursday looks the best for rain here, if not I'm going to get the soaker hoses ready early.

Take a look at drip irrigation. I love it. I used to use soakers. But I'm also a plumber by day so I put my own twist on drip setup.

    South of houston.

I'm also a plumber, I used a mister landscaper on my garden. Love it!
