Too expensive to move so we have to deal with it ;) so if I can keep it above freezing it will be good. I ordered some chiltepin and pequin pepper seeds and a heat mat, so I can start them inside. Soil has to be 80degrees to germinate... they are supposedly 15times hotter than a jalapeno and milder than a habanero... so should be interesting;)

yep, Ive been trying to get some ghost peppers going but last year they got about 6" tall and flowered but I think they cross polinated with one of the nearby jalapenos because they were the hottest jalapenos Ive ever ate...the ghost peppers didnt do anything else.

If they cross pollinate it won't change that years peppers. It will only change the genetic information in the seeds. If you plant those seeds, yes you could see a change in those, but not the current ones. Peppers vary in how hot they are from year to year. I don't understand what makes them hotter some years, but I know it has nothing to do with cross pollination.

I didnt know...but they were the hottest jalapenos ive eaten, and they were small. I thought it was just the proximity to the ghost pepper plants. Guess that particular plant was healthy;)

    Peppers coming along :)
Mostly hatch chilis with a few cherry and some ghost seedlings
When the snow melts and the ground thaws I’ll build them a cold frame but for now a t5 fluoro and a cooler are doing the trick lol

Growing conditions. Early water, late drought makes the peppers much hotter.

As for my garden, i've got my garlic coming up nicely and i think my strawberries are coming back. The strawberries are surprising because they were in pots that were completely unprotected through the winter.

Breaking up the soil to get ready for planting. I till in compost and chicken shot in the fall and cover with grass clippings for the winter. Still getting some frosty mornings. Figure to plant by mid April.

Harbor freight has a coupon for the 6x8 greenhouse for $199 in the ads in the Sunday paper. The greenhouse is small but works great for the price with a few modifications.

bought a used rear tine troybuilt garden tiller, doesnt look used much. the paint is barely worn off the tines...it barely ran full choke, bought it from an old couple that are moving and need the money. I took the carb off and cleaned it ran for a little bit then started running rough again. Took off the carb again and cleaned it again and it ran good and starts right up. It had a lot of gummy stuff in the bowl and I may need to add a fuel filter till the tank is cleaned. It maybe ran a few years ago...by the looks of their gardens and the condition of the tiller gas...
