Thanks for taking the time to imagin this lol lol. Thnx for any comments/help.

    Oh look, another mod....

I couldn't find on Amazon or Garmins site how long the cable is that comes with it. You can buy an "extra long" cable from Garmins site, and I'm sure you can find it on Amazon. Buy it, just in case. It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. You can always return it if you don't need it, and they aren't that expensive.

The Dongar SimpleUSB that @Athena32 linked is by far the simplest way to power your Garmin.

Just be aware that with the Dongar adapter you must have power at your mirror... Compass, auto-dimming, homelink, etc.

He has an SR, and he stated in his original post that he's running it down into the dash.

I read his post. But it may be that he is unaware of other options for powering his Dashcam.

Thank you all for the FAST and great info. I would like to do the Dongar adapter but I don't have the mirror plug. I looked at Garmin and it said the cable is 13ft long. I think it might make it but was wondering if it had been done already. Appreciate the help :)

13ft? Yeah, that's enough. From the mirror to the A pillar is roughly 2.5 ft (then multiple that by 2 to go from the A pillar to the center of the dash). Now you're at 5ft. Then you have roughly 3 feet to run it down the A pillar into the dash area. Now you're at 8ft. That leaves you with 5 ft of slack to snake it in and out of the dash area.

13ft should be fine, and not leave you with too much slack left over.

Well I got it in. It fits right behind the mirror, the wire goes across the headliner, down the drivers "A" pillar, under the dash and under the center consul, pops up from underneath it, into the arm rest storage area and plugs into the USB, using the cable that came with it. It goes on/off with the truck. Thank you ALL for your help its appreciated.IMG_1478.jpg IMG_1480.jpg

Dongar is definitely the way to go. It’s reasonable and dependable. Most importantly it’s extremely discreet and takes literally one minute to set up.

He has an SR and therefore no power mirror.

Glad to see it worked out for you.
