Garmin GPS permanent installation

I have the same Garmin 2589lmt. I used a 12v socket and wired it to the fuse panel and tied it up behind the driver's kick panel.

Plugged the Garmin supply into the socket and I get traffic alerts all the time... Yes, Boston sucks for traffic.

 

Oh. OK.

Awesome where did you buy that at? I definitely want to do this now.

 

I've had a few kicking around I've collected over the years.
You can get them almost anywhere.... Every car parts store, even WallMart has them. It's just a 12v power socket.

Cut the clamps off and wire to the fuse panel...

Hahaha! You're right! I've seen these dozens of times and never paid attention. I'll get the Advance Auto one.

I purchased this:


I cut the clamps off & ran this the same way as my original hardwire. I plugged in the OEM Garmin charger & it is directly behind the radio. Traffic reception is excellent.
