    I have the same Garmin 2589lmt. I used a 12v socket and wired it to the fuse panel and tied it up behind the driver's kick panel.

    Plugged the Garmin supply into the socket and I get traffic alerts all the time... Yes, Boston sucks for traffic.

    Hello again

    I purchased this:

    I cut the clamps off & ran this the same way as my original hardwire. I plugged in the OEM Garmin charger & it is directly behind the radio. Traffic reception is excellent.
