I guess I didn't research hard enough and pulled the trigger on this a few days ago. Unfortunately, the seller won't take returns. Nothing wrong with it, it's a decent GPS unit for hikers or whatever. It's just too small for my old eyes. And I have had it for a whopping three days. Box and everything included. I highly recommend going to Garmin's website or someplace else the Google machine directs to and read about the features. I can do my best to answer question if you have any. $160 shipped to you! PayPal is my favorite. Can use Venmo.

I don't know what difference there is between the 64x and my 64s but I'd highly recommend this for hiking or hunting. It's not a good GPS for use in a vehicle. And $160 is a good price. This is one of the more basic units, but as a handheld GPS it does exactly the same thing the $700 units do. They just have added features like built in camera's, touch screens, and 2 way radios, etc.

Some of the more expensive units have touch screen capability and internal antenna's. But the ones with buttons like this are more rugged and can be used with gloves. The external antenna also picks up better in heavy canopy forests.

If you're not familiar with these to be useful you need to download detailed maps before using them for various parts of the county on a mini SD card. You can change cards to match where you are. Garmin sells them, prices vary but roughly $80-$100 for various regions. I bought one for Colorado before hunting there. It shows boundaries between public and private property. The fine for wandering onto private ranches is a LOT more than the $80 it cost me. Most of the USA is available for free. Just google free GPS maps.

My wife and I volunteer for a group that searches for missing people and travel all over the Southeast. I have free maps on SD cards for every SE state from Texas to Virginia. I downloaded a fee map for Indiana for a search we did there as well.

We don't use them as much for finding our way around, but to record where we've been. Each searcher turns theirs on when we start and at the end of each day our tracks are downloaded onto a program similar to Google Earth. This way we have documentation of where we searched and if a spot is missed can send someone back to that area.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think the 64x replaced the 64s. At least that's what it appeared like when I was researching. And like you said, it doesn't have all the frills the more expensive units do. I just didn't see the point of a camera, phone connectivity, etc.

Unit is just sitting next to me waiting for a new home.

Guess I'm going to have to throw this up on eBay or something.
