Here's how I have my radios mounted. The mobile had its own dock I had to use, just bolted it to a RAM mount I had in my shop from another install. Was cheap and easy, just the way I like 'em

Here is what I did and it works well for me...

I do a lot of hunting and exploring solo. As such I use both a traditional gps and my phone as a gps (While on airplane mode) with OnX mapping software and needed to put it where I could see both and it not interfere with my driving while using it for navigation off highway. Some will think it is too close to the wheel (I don't think so) but have yet to have an issue and everyone is different. Like I said it works for me and may not be your cup of tea but it might be useful for someone else who has similar needs/interests.

I put my phone and an off highway gps unit I use on the A-pillar with RAM mount components (My head unit has a gps unit I use for on highway). MINIMAL visual interference reduction and not blocking ac vent. Took a few minutes to arrange them to be functional and tucked outta the way as much as possible. Underneath in one of the plugs I installed a usb charger so I can charge the units while still in their holders, mostly the phone if needed.

I put my InReach Explorer + on a RAM mount down on the center console. Since you are not really looking at it you just listen for the beep to know you have a message. Easy Peazy. Cup holders are still 100% functional so it was the best I have come up with to fit my needs. No issues yet...

I like the center console mount. Assume its just double sided tape?

Any issues with reception down there?

None thus far and I roam the deserts in the southwest. The ball is the universal windshield mount I believe they call it and it includes the double sided round tape.

Guess I never came back and updated this thread. Got a set of RAM mounts from member @Coop68 late last year. Got those installed and added two 1" balls. One of them dedicated to the powered InReach cradle. Overall a very good solution. Doesnt block any views or access to any HVAC / radio controls. Its sturdy as hell, and the cell phone charger is always plugged in right there so its wicked easy to charge then needed.

3 inch lift with Toytec Boss and All Pro UCA's up front. AP expedition leafs with Bilstien 5100 shocks in the back. 255/85/16 Cooper S/T Max tires. All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.
I’m assuming that almost everyone on this thread has a cell phone or tablet already mounted, or somehow placed in view from the driver’s seat. So I’m curious as to why anyone would feel the need to mount their InReach for easy visibility when the device communicates virtually all of its functions to whatever device you have running Garmin Earthmate and navigation to a number of other mapping apps. Feeling sarcastic now, but really, how many screens does one need between your eyes and the road?
My InReach has hung on the back of the driver side headrest on a carabiner for years without any signal interruption. It talks to my tablet which is held in front of the center console cup holders with a $1 bungee. I wired an AC outlet to the back of the cubby box which provides charging and external power.

    More than I can afford
I look at mine and where it is mounted as an “oh shit” button.
Out by myself, roll the truck and I am trapped, would much rather have it securely mounted and within reach.
Phone will probably not be where I left it nor will it work in some places I go to.

I am also more inclined to grab it if I leave the truck for whatever reason if it is right there.

this was before I got the inreach spline mount for the mini.... I'll post up a pic of it now.. this pic it is jut set in place with the 10lb rated 3m command plastic velcro... it worked ok for on the road, but kept falling off the dash, so I used the velcro to secure it to pasenger floorboard carpet... this worked better. I now have the spline mount... www.expeditionesentials.com 3TPAM.

Exactly. This is more of a lifesaving tool than a comms tool in my eyes. For that reason I rarely use the Earthmate app. If the shit ever truly hits the fan, I can guarantee I wont have my cell phone and I dont want to be relying on something I dont have.

The cradle allows for immediate and direct access as well as quick release to grab-and-go. Also in place charging is very convenient.
