Ok so my lady friend has a problem.... she was using a gas can and I guess a small white piece of the top was broken and fell into her gas tank.

Yes, part of the can broke and fell inside her gas tank. Can I try to extract it with a wire? She went to the gas station (2 actually) and said the pump kept stopping every few seconds. Oh boy...

    Thoughts, advice?

Sounds like it's lodge in the fuel filler neck if it's kicking the pumps off like that. I'd pull that neck now before it drops.

If you are going to try to fish it out, at least get something like this to try:

Pioneer Radio, New rear bumper (that does not really count though). Going to be upgrading it more and more as time goes on.
How did you get it out? Was it lodged in the filler neck?

Yeah it was in the filler neck. It was plastic so a magnet telescope wouldn't work. We ended up putting a little double-sided tape on the end and pulled it out real quick.

    She Got lucky.

An added piece of mind to know you got it out, but I doubt it would have done any damage if it had fallen all the way in the tank.

Best case is it stays in the tank for the next 100 years and you never notice it.

Worse case would be it clogs the fuel pump pickup. So you drop the tank and fish it out. But I doubt it would clog anything.
