I like it! Is that an "outside" strip though? Where I'm from, the humidty wouldn't serve the little hook well. :)

You can move the leash over to the hole on the left and then hang the cap over the factory lid hook. No mods necessary.

That little hook just to the left of your hanger is a built in ready to use hanger. :)
It's in the manual somewhere, at least I remember seeing it in there.

Wow. I thought I read on here where some complained about not having hanger from factory. The double hook latch (existing) is for retaining the door closed. If it is intended to be cap holder , that's cool. I checked manual on page 213 and no mention of using latch for cap hanger. If it works, it works. My tether is almost too short to hang on latch. The adhesive is not intended for wet conditions. I figured behind door and cap being so light, it will work.

I ding realize this was an issue. Here I was thinking the fact it's tethered is pretty awesome. I used to just set the gas cap on the trunk while filling up and hoped it wouldn't slide off. The tether broke on my 2003 Tacoma and I'd just set it on the bed rail as I was filling up.

That why you just needed to move the tether over one notch like my post stated. This would give you one more inch of tether length to hang if you needed it.

Ok. Just pull the tether out of the existing hole? I assume it just snaps out, w/o breaking? Then snap in optional hole left of existing location? Well that should work fine. Wonder why Toyota doesn't put it there to start with?

I love replacing those filler necks when they inevitably start throwing EVAP codes

Never had a problem with mine. A lot of manufactures are moving to them. Just wait until GM does, you'll have a lot more to replace. Just like everything thing else
