For the past week someone has stolen two tanks of gas out of my truck. Normally my truck would be in the garage nice and neat. But since the garage is being redone the truck is outside. I called Toyota and they said they don't sell them nor can they recommend because. Of the spring and pressure loaded gas cap. What brand can I put on that won't turn on the cel on my phone so couldn't search. Sorry in advance

I was thinking the exact same thing. Just camp out on the roof and fill the f***er with lead when they show up!

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.

The problem with a locking gas cap is a thief that is determined can cause damage to the truck when trying to pry it off. Try one of these

Think mine is called a Stant. Bought it from the dealer when I bought my taco 4 years ago. Never had a problem

Let them damage the truck - that's what insurance is for.

Criminals want a quick hit. They don't want to spend too much time prying at something they're not even sure they can get it off.

Do you actually have one of those blocker things? That just looks like a problems waiting to happen. I can picture it rusting and falling into your tank and/or fuel pump. No Thanks....

I've been using this from autozone since I bought my truck 3 years ago. I use only 93 octane so they can't steal my gas.

This thread made me laugh. Not the stealing of the gas part.

All the americans are saying, "get a gun and shoot him/her".

The Canadians are saying, "get a locking gas cap".

Attached to each other by land. But worlds apart on how get a solution. :)

yep, two methods of dealing with it. one gets rid of the problem permanently, the other aims to prevent the problem.:p

It's funny on how two countries think so differently. I think that if they wanted the gas that bad then they would just puncher a hole in the gas tank under the truck.

    that was my thinking.

if i was stealing gas and you put that in to stop me, i just put a hole in the tank and let you deal with replacing an expensive gas tank than a tank of gas.

Better them siphoning it than doing what some of our local thieves have done, which is just stab the gas tank with a screwdriver (not the safest thing in the world, but if they were smart they'd be committing crimes with a bigger payoff) and fill up the can from underneath.

BTW - nobody said anything about shooting. There you go...putting words in our mouths.

Besides.... A locking gas cap will only make a criminal laugh until he steals the gas of your neighbor.

A gun in his/her face will make him cry and/or zhit his pants and he/she might actually find another hobby. :D

Our solutions are more permanent. :p
