My 2004 2.7 regular cab(4wd) has been an amazing truck for 5 years without a single issue. So any issue that does pop up is a surprise. I filled up the truck with gas after the first snowstorm and cold snap in Minnesota. After about I noticed the gas gauge needle jumping around. Its continued to jump around maybe around a half inch of movement. Im wondering if the float is stuck? Not sure what could be the problem. Any ideas?

Mine does it when it's cold outside. I think alot of the '01-04 are prone to move around quite a bit.

Interesting. I can understand that but the truck lived in Montana for years and survived a cold winter in Northern MN last year without the issue. Wondering if the float could be loose?

Mine's all over the place, I filled it yesterday and parked it. It read empty this morning until i drove a few blocks, then it came up above half for awhile.

My 01 has the same problem occasionally. I believe it's a bad float. But I don't let it bother me because I use the trip odo.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Mine does it too, not necessarily a bad float. Sometime the contacts that the float actuates become dirty and the needle falls when it's on a dead spot(s).
