Hi all - recently replaced complete fuel pump unit due to failure, 2005 4.0 taco crew cab. OEM unit which included sending unit etc.
Son ran out of gas twice when needle dropped below 1/4 tank. The gauge was accurate before the fuel pump unit replacement.
Hoping for alternative solutions rather than dropping the tank again. thanks for the help in advance.

All you can do is test the sending unit.
You don't have to drop the tank.

    Find the the ID2 connector.

Test resistance of the pins 2 and 5 and see if it matches what the gauge says. - Pin 2 (Orange wire) / Pin 5 (Yellow/Black)
