Ok so my 06 taco ran out of gas the other day. I assumed my fuel pump went out since I still had 1/4 tank, or so I thought. So I replaced the fuel pump but while doing so I realized the tank was empty but still showing 1/4 so I replace the fuel pump relay still didn’t change the reading with only 2 gallons in the tank. Any suggestions from here besides zeroing the trip which I am going to do until I figure out a solution thanks for any input.

As far as I know I used the same sending unit all I did was replace the fuel pump.

Your problem might have been a bad sending unit all along.
    Time to check it.
