More likely, as that is what I get around town driving! Gee, you have 4WD and don't look forward to all the fun that adds to the Toy??? It is really satisfying to take your truck where regular vehicles cannot go.

Eventually, I will get to enjoy it when the time comes. For now, more or less just so I don't get stuck in the snow during the winter.

    Got it!
Where I live (near San Diego) snow driving is something fun that we need to drive to 4,000 feet or higher to get into (the couple times a year it snows in our mountains). I understand most other places it is not a fun condition!
Tires play a bigger role as well as having some weight in the bed of the truck, as it is rear wheel drive when in 2WD (where there is far less weight than over the front tires). So, snow tires, ballast in the back (and/or 4WD) will be most helpful.

i got an 09 4.0 165KM right now to a 1/2 tank right now. barely prewarm it just hop in start up and go after a min or two unless my windshield is frozen up. Usually goes far below freezing for me. Not impressed with it. My 6.0L silverado got better mileage starting it warming it up, towing a trailer. These things are gas whores

Go fill your tank, reset trip meter, drive X miles, fill tank, divide X miles by how many gallons it took to fill it again.
If math is hard, let the fuelly app do it for you.

In the winter, i average 16.5-17 mpg. However, going into my fuelly app my total average mpg over 35,000 miles is 18.7 mpg

I did a check on mines I get 260 from topped off to pinch from quarter tank and that's driving 30miles round trip freeway and streets Monday to Friday. I driven to Oregon from Tacoma and got about 360 miles round trip so I would say its not bad

Does it have stock 265/65/17 tires or larger 265/70/17 tires? Those will reduce MPG shown on the odometer by 3%. They will also kill your MPG by a similar amount.

I warm up my truck for a minute, max in the mornings or after work. I usually put it into drive and drive slowly for the first mile. It warms up MUCH faster by driving rather than sitting.

I have 2015 access cab 2.7 and regularly get 19 mpg. I think that the 22 is a farce. Maybe the regular cab might get that. I've never seen it

Here is my mileage since I purchased the truck. Trend shows how the gas mileage decreases in winter time. Truck is garaged and I do not warm up more than 20 seconds before I back out of garage and heading down the road.

I got 21 consistently in my 2.7L AC 4x4 - no matter how I drove it, almost every tank. Best I did was 24mpg driving between Santa Fe, NM and Ouray, CO with 2 dirt bikes and camping gear in the bed. That was a pleasant surprise but you never get over 55mph on the route.

Now I'm in a boosted 4.0L and I'm lucky to get 16 :anonymous:

Well known fact: Tacoma MPGs suck compared to modern full size trucks. (HP vs MPGs)

Also, let the motor idle 30-60 seconds to get the oil moving. Then drive it gently. This will consume less gas and warm it up faster, thus less wear and tear. It is said that long idling at low temps causes MORE friction because the oil and components stay cold longer.

    Welcome to TacomaWorld. :)

Sounds normal for a 4.0 Tacoma. My 5.7 Tundra got 11.5mpg on the last tank, so 15 in the winter in a Tacoma isn't far off from what I'd expect, especially since you're wasting gas letting it idle for for like 10 minutes every day.

Mine was a 5 speed. So you probably drive like an asshole.

I make her work. I think it's the gas up here in West Virginia. Brand new truck and runs like crap because of gas sometimes. I put in Techron every 3000
