I stuck it my Gasshole this morning. And while I'm thinking about it I'm going out to remove the tether off my gas cap. :)

I run it until the miles left says about 3... and I can fit 20.9 gallons in it. When it clicks off, it's only got 17-18 gallons. The advertised size of the tank in the manual is 21.

So, in my case, when it clicks off - I can (and always do) put two more gallons in it. That leaves a good bit more than required for a "vapor barrier" on a tank vented thru a charcoal canister from a nipple located above the tank.

If you mess that system up it is expensive . They are just trying to help you with the info . Why do you need it so full ?

I'm not saying I won't ever buy a gas-hole, but they have limited availability. For now I'll keep doing this:

Look, this doesn't need to make sense to you :) I wasn't really ranting about how not to fill my gas tank because someone is worried I'll ruin it. I was ranting that someone gave me a 21 gallon tank that shuts off at 18 gallons. It irritates me. On a truck that only gets 15 mpg... that extra 2 gallons and 30 miles between stops matters whether I have to stop in rush hour in Danbury CT or out in the middle of wide open NY so I'm going to pack that thing full whether or not it's recommended by Toyota. (It hasn't hurt anything in almost 3 years and 50k+ miles so the hand-wringers may stand down)

Looking for suggestions on how to get this bolt out. Previous owner manhandled this bolt at some point and I cannot get this bolt out for my new @MESO gashole holder. Any ideas? I tried an extractor (as you can see) but I think it was already so jacked that this probably made it worse.

Supercharger, sway bars, lift, leather, tires, Gobi, etc.

I would drill it out. Or grind the head off. You could also grind a slot across the head (using a dremel) and use a flat tip screw driver. I have used all of these techniques over the years.

Yeah- use a dremel to cut a slot into the head and then use a flat head screwdriver to extract. Should come out pretty quick and easy after that.
You may consider using an impact with a flat head bit to break it loose, but YMMV.

This is interesting because when "miles left: 0" is reached, and the message changes to "Please refuel", there's still about 2 gallons in the tank. The "miles left" message shows up with about 3 gallons in the tank. I refuel after the message changes to "please refuel" and I've never managed to put more than roughly 20 gallons in, but I usually pump till the first click off, wait a few seconds, then pump until another click off.

I wonder how much you could manage to fit if you ran it empty!

Only one way to find out. Let us know!

Also, the common remark is that it’s also bad for the fuel pump when you run the tank so close to dry, though I’ve never seen a study where people actually tested whether a given fuel pump would actually fail or fail sooner because of it.
