Okay so I know this question has been asked a lot but it probably varies by engine.

My 2011 V6 the gas light comes on way before I ever get to the empty line.. way before the line.

So, how many gallons do we have when the light comes on... Then how many when we hit the E line? Does anyone have a definitive answer.

Once the light comes on you have approximately 4 gallons left to get to a fuel station.

There’s a way to find out. Just bring a gas can. Are you the first owner?

I messed around with my gauge cluster and when you put it back in you need to carefully calibrate the needle positions. Could be someone screwed that up on your truck. On mine FYI there is no empty line, I have F then 5 lines then E. My light comes on close to the last line and by that time I usually still have around 6 gallons left. Needle dead on E I have 3 gallons left.

Thats weird, my gas light comes on at the line before the empty line, but I think its about 3 or 4 gallons.

About 4 gallons seems to be the general consensus.
But each truck may vary a little bit.

4 gallons seems like a lot. Maybe I need to bring a can and check.

Here's a picture of my light and line. For those curious.
    20190619_020045.jpg
As u can see, I'm not even to the line when the light comes on.. that said, a full tank goes past the last line by the F, too, so it makes sense empty to be under it.

So basically ur all saying when the light comes on I still have 4 gallons, or at least 40-60 miles I can go. Jeez. I thought I had a gallon or two left, and have always rushed to the station.

Not it is like 4 gallons or so. Rode for like almost 70 miles after the light came on before filling up. when I pulled into the gas station I was on fumes.

Hmmm, who cares. I've only seen the light on my 2015 ONCE, shame on me. When the gauge gets into the last quarter or so, I buy gas. In over 40 + years of driving, I've only run out of gas once, never again.

My gauge says whatever it wants. When I’m on my local weekly commute I get gas after I hit 400 miles.
    Can you say fuel filter!
If I’m driving across the country on vacation I stop at 300 miles. I usually have my route figured out before I leave.

I drove my '19 until I directly on the E line. Immediately found a gas station and filled up. It took just a bit over 19 gallons to fill up. I dont know if it is a good way to gauge, but I know I have a 21gallon tank. So maybe I had about 2 more gallons left? Or I was on the last few drops and got lucky.

There is no definitive answer, every truck is different, when the light comes on its time to gas up,as running the tank super low will ruin your fuel pump over time.

Only way you can know what amount of fuel you have left in yout truck when the light comes on. Is to gas up as soon as it does. Then you'll know for sure, without having to guess.
It does vary a bit from truck to truck.

I was going to disagree, but a Google search confirmed from 2 fuel pump manufacturers. Here is a link to a more detailed explanation on why you shouldn't run your tank low.

Considering the price of a Tacoma fuel pump, and the hassle if l broke down in the middle of nowhere and getting it towed because of it. l eliminate that potential cause and never let my gauge get below 3/8.
l hate being low on gas because you never know when you'll get stuck behind a long backup behind an accident (Which has happened to me)
    But that's just me.

    Too few to list.
My gas light comes on at about 17.5-18 gallons so about 3-3.6 gallons left in the tank.

400 mile range each tank? Do you always travel downhill with a tailwind?
