Gas light help

    it has a k&N airtake system that came on it when I bought It
    I have a 98 tacoma ext cab 4x4. I have never seen the gas light come on . I have had it lower that E lol it has the gas light place in the dash. But won't work can you tell me why thanks guys again for everything

    used to have - 99 2.4L I4 5 lug & 04 prerunner v6
    maybe a bad connection or a bad sending unit in the tank or something as simple as the tiny light bulb in the instrument cluster is burnt out.

    I cant see a reason to bother with it as most people pay close attention to the gas gage but the system is pretty rock solid so I would check the bulb first as the most likely reason its not coming on.

    More than likely, its the bulb. I don't think mine works either. Only had it to the point of almost clunking out once and that was the last time I saw it come on. Really, just don't mind it. Not worth the effort to change the bulb

    Problem solved....don't let your gauge get below the E. :D

    OP - how far below the E did you let it go? Have you ever run out of gas? If I remember - on my 96, the light came on pretty far after the E and you didn't have much time/miles left to let it run out. I've only ever seen the light come on once.
