Gas light on - How many miles

How often do you have to fill your tank if you never go below half tank ? That's my point , if you burn a half tank in 2 or 3 days , does that extra 2 days really make any dicernable difference. ?

 

You have the same potential for evaporation by draining your tank to 1/2 but twice as often as draining it to empty.

 

My gas mileage sucks. I have a lift , lots of heavy armor and big tires. Why do I get bad mpg? Also I drive real fast. I'm thinking of re doing my clear coat to help cut through the air easier. And keeping the radio off volume below 35 while driving to help mileage. And synthetic power steering fluid.

What do you guys think?

 

I think you have 3-4 US Gallons left over when the gas light comes on

That article talks about keeping your tank 90%+ full. That's filling up every 2 gallons, cool idea.

 

Depending on the truck, phase of the moon, tides, and position of the Klingons around Uranus, anywhere from 16.5 to 18 gallons consumed.

It's a 21.1 gallon tank, can't access the last half gallon, so it's pretty safe to figure that you've got at least 35 miles to empty (2.5 usable remaining at 14mpg)

 

LOL! If condensation occurs in your tank, then you have one hell of problem going on.

my light just came on yesterday and i filled up with 17.8gals. i'm guessing there's about 3-3.5gal left in the tank when the light comes on.

 

I can only assume he lives somewhere warm ?

Looks like I was 100% dead wrong. Not a shocker or a world first or anything.

 

My gas gauge is way off then. I've never gone above 18 gallons when filling up and when I have to fill up close to 18 gallons till full my gas needle is past the E line.

 

They are all way off , ever notice it stays above full for the first 40-50 miles ?

 

That said then, if my lifetime MPG is accurate, than my range per tank is actually around 500 miles!
