Gas light on with 3/4 full, and check engine light

In my 2005 Prerunner Trd Off road i had a gas light come on when I still had 3/4 of a tank left (almost full) and just 2 days later I now have a check engine light on and gas light is still on now at about 3/8th of a tank left. In the owners manual it says check engine light can come on when tank is empty, so i’m thinking that my float is busted and it thinks my tank is empty cuz my gas light came on and i used about half the tank. and because it thinks the tank is empty the check engine light is coming on. Yall think i’m right or something else? Anyone else have same problems?

 

Get the code for the CEL pulled and report back.

If the gauge needle is properly working I wouldn't think the float was failed.

 

I also think that the CEL is not caused by the low fuel warning light.
