I average 22 combined. But it's never really been below 21 with mostly city, nor over 23 with mostly highway. I try to keep my foot light and something other than Firestone WinterForces might help me out.

Ok, I'll admit it, I drive like an old man (I'm 53). I drive almost 100 miles per day. to work and back, so I try to get the best MPG I can get. I keep the tires a couple lbs over and accelerate gradually (when possible). I use Cruise and keep it under 70mph. Here's my numbers...1st fillup 437.3 miles/16.063 gal, 2nd fillup 361.4 miles/13.105 gal and 3rd fillup 434.3 miles/15.852 gal. Misplaced the last gas slip. I also have an Undercover Tonneau, but that probably doesn't add much MPG.
For $50 a lesson, I'll teach you! You too can drive like an "old man". haahaha

I recently calculated right at 20 mpg for a 170 mile round trip that included approximately:
    105 miles hwy @ 75-80 mph
    45 miles backroads @ 35-65 mph
20 miles of trails in 4LO
    ...and 1 passenger.
(I might add that this trip was in a mountainous region of central Utah)

I thought my best tank ever was 24+ mpg until I corrected for the nearly +5%
discrepancy in the speedometer/odometer (a common problem in these trucks).

I just did a 3200 mile road trip towing a small tent trailer and averaged about 20-21mpg mostly highway driving. I was very pleased with that! What other 4x4 truck as well made as a tacoma can get over 20mpg. I dont car what Chevy claims the Silverado gets for mpg. A V8 is a gas sucker no matter what fuel cylinder management crap is on it.

I would give my left nut for the milage you guys are getting. When I picked up the truck it was totally full of gas (reg cab 4x4). I reset the odo when i drove it off the lot and 290 miles later the gas light was on. If it's a 20 gallon tank, that's like 15MPG.

freeway milage and town miles seem to be almost the same. Since it's gets almost the same milage on the freeway, I'm gueesing it's due to crappy areodynamics, as well as the tires, which kill the milage on both city and freeway.

I do have an exhaust and intake but it still seems to be the same. I didn't buy them for gas milage anyway:D

Should be noted that my lift and 32's were installed with about 175 miles on the odo. with no regear. After that tank and with exhaust and intake, I was cruising down the freeway for a long drive and when the gauge needle hit the half tank mark I reset the odo and when it got to the quarter tank mark I went 75'sh miles, which would be about 15MPG.

I don't really care to much because I mostly just drive around town anyway and have fun driving the truck but would be nice if it was a liitle better without doing a regear which I won't do anytime soon, if at all.

    Anyway I voted <20

on the other hand the odo is off too, so if it says 75 miles in reality it's more than 75 miles.

I'm getting about the same mileage and i also have these tires. I just went on a trip to our camp in potter county (northern Pa near NY border) from the pittsburgh area and its about 180 miles one way and i left with a full tank got up there and then drove about another 80 miles up there too and i hadn't even hit the quarter of a tank mark! I was amazed i got about 25.5 miles and its about 75% highway 25% city with A LOT of hills and i have a pretty heavy foot. Also i get about 20.5- 21 mpg city now.

I switched to 93 octane and it def saves you money in the long run and the CAI helps for sure too since i don't have to downshift as much

The 2.7 was never designed to require high octane gas so you are probably not going to see any benefit from using it. High octane gas is less cumbustable than lower octane and is designed for higher compression, high performance engines. I do believe the 4.0 was originally required to use high octane, but the newer version can run on 87. If you have the 4.0, you will probably see a benefit from the premium fuel, but if you have the 2.7, stick with 87 or 89. JMO.

I forgot to add that I recently tried a few tanks of 89 octane instead of 87. I didn't notice a change in power or gas mileage so I'll probably go back to 87 to save a few dimes.

22 - 23 in town and 25- 26 hwy:) I too drive kinda like an old man. I bought this truck for the mpg's + ( I love 4x4 tacomas) If I got less than 20 I'd be pissed. So I try to take it easy. My f350 4x4 crew cab gets 16-17 runnin empty.
