Flubber? Good idea, know where I can get some. : ) Not many of us around here remember those movies (the originals). BTW, I filled up yesterday and checked the mpg on the last tank...28.07mpg. For all of the those who think I'm full of crap, check out the thread under "2nd generation...", "24.9 Highway MPG V6".

If you are not full of crap, then they made changes to the 2009 to improve fuel economy. My 2008 will never get 28.07 mpg unless I'm driving down hill in 5th gear all of the time. I noticed the E.P.A fuel economy ratings are the same for the 08 and 09. 17 city 22 hwy. BTW, I believe you, I just would like to know how the 09 is getting such better gas mileage.

I have been taking 400+ mile road trips every weekend for the past 3 months and noticed that with 0w-20 Mobil 1 oil and Shell 87 octane gas i can get the best mileage - 23.5 MPG on the last trip. I usually drive 75 - 80 MPH the whole trip with A/C and cruise control on.

The only thing that sucks is that i have 15000 miles on a 5 month old truck...

I could ad it is "Yankee Ingenuity" creating those MPG's ( mine are up there too ;) ) or the knowledge of AGE  BUT it might start a "whos bigger contest":rolleyes:

Driving habits, driving habits, driving habits......I enjoy getting 5.5 mpg's with my "Office" so 22-24 with the Taco is icing on the cake:cool:

Yup, I agree, driving habits are the key. FLJB is seeing 23.5mpg at 75-80mph with the AC on. With AC off and running at 65-70, I bet he would increase that substantially.

I may try that on my next trip in 2 weekends. would have to leave early in the morning so i don't roast in the sun..

Driving habits are key to getting good mileage. I do have mellow starts from stop lights and lots of coasting and downshifting on stops. Active driving helps too, I am always looking around especially in the rear view mirror so when i am passing a truck on a 3 lane highway i don't have some ahole bearing down on me at 90 which would tend to make me speed up to let him by.

By the way the trip is Jax FL to north of Atl, GA so it is not straight flat ground the whole way.

Got 18mpg on this tank with 90% city driving and moderate heavy foot. Could never get that on my Colorado 5cyl LOL

Access cab with 4x4 and about 2000 miles averaging 22, mostly around town. Haven't been on a highway trip long enough to check it. Stock 16 inch tires.

I took my truck for the first road trip since re-gearing last weekend and got 22.5 MPG :D (after accounting for speedometer error of course)

    OK, no secrets now......
I see your tire size, what is your new gear ratio ?
    oops....I just saw it ....4.56

Does it act any differently from stock or does it just correct for the larger diameter tires ?

its an easy test, as soon as i comes on fill ur truck and see how many gallons u used subtract those from 21 and u have how many gallons u have left... now multiply that number by ur avg. mpg and bingo bango

a way that i do i just know my avg mpg and reset my tripometer after i fill up and know that i avg. around 19.5 so i can go 390 miles with a gallon to spare... i have put more than 400 miles b4 and filled up with like 20.4 gallons:eek:

I drive a 2009 regular cab, manual transmission. I have about 1200 miles on the truck and average right around 21.5. My last tank was just shy of 24 but that was mostly on the highway with a light foot.
