From a full tank to light going on I get 320 to 340 miles on highway and city mixed. Haven't checked when driving in back roads.

I see all of these impressive Fuelly numbers, but they dont seam to match the average numbers actually on Fuelly. The v6 gets average 18-19 and the i4 gets average 20-21.

hardly a difference but 22 in a v6 doesnt make any sense. i drove an all stock, brand new v6 4x4 DC to tahoe and we averaged 17.6 - 18 mpg on the way back. 2 peeps and gear. day trip. ill give you a possible west headwind. but those are the facts. nice truck for sure. but gas hog for a small one.

thats why i bought a 4 banger for a travel work truck. first tank i drove to marin first leg. hella uphill all over. then to carmel valley second leg. 4 wheel drive through the hills and all that. sat in about 2 hours of traffic. around town a bunch and i got almost 21 mpg if i use your padding technique. calculated off of the fillup using the numbers on the trip and gallons refilled. thats the most accurate way humanly possible on a stock vehicle. 20.5 mpg and that was no feathering of the gas what so ever. that was to give myslef a true accurate depiction of the mpgs with the way i drive.

your telling me you got 20-21 mpg average around town on a v6? first of all you dont live in SF thats for sure.

i dont know about that homie. explain how you did it maybe? did you have it in nuetral for all of the down hills?

Wow, all of your tacos here puts my Taco to shame. I have a 2009 4x4 off-road super charged with Duratracs. No lift, no camper shell. The most I'll get is about 280-300 miles per tank. Maybe it has to do with the weather here. It's always foggy and cold. I notice people who live in hotter places get better MPGs.

And I don't even gun the truck and let it coast to the light most of the time.

That was all highway. My average for the year was 14.71 l/100km with about 90% of that city. My fill-up on Monday was all city and was 248 km with 35.6 l for 14.37 l/100km or 16.3 mpg.

Here is a copy of the excel file I put together to keep track of my mileage. It will give you the yearly cost of fuel, to total km for the year, running average l/100km and l/100km average for the life of the truck.

In mostly city driving, I get 360-370 to a tank (to the low fuel light comes on) on a double cab Prerunner SR5. Only thing I have done is an air filter & converted to an electric fan. This is consistent from week to week.

Guess i should have checked my odometer sooner. On my 245s it reads low according to the mile markers by 3.5%. Suppose that would put me in the minority with underinflated mileage mumbers. Don't have gps that does trip distance to check that way (though the speedo read 1 mph low).

Check your odometer calibration before you fret too much

well, we'll know how good/bad the fuel pumps are in these trucks when mine goes out lmao.

being a poor college student and stupid high gas prices down here, have led me to run the tank empty alot.

i am aware of what it does, and im pretty sure all of what you said is true lol

so if my fuel pump explodes before 100K, I'll know why lmao

    Why run it down?
It'll just cost more to fill when you do stop for gas.
Does it matter if you put $10 into an empty tank or $10 into a tank with 15 gallons left?

Don't worry, it's cooled and lubricated by the fuel running through it, not the fuel around it.

Me? I just drive it like I normally do. First tank was 20.5 when I drove it off the lot. My drive to work is 40 miles round trip, with enough traffic and lights that it's not worth it to gun it from light to light. Hills around here are rolling. But either way, whatever extra effort is req'd to go up is just that much less to go down, right? I don't shift to neutral - leave it in D for the most part.

That's always been my feeling as well, but I've heard of a LOT of fuel pump failures in vehicles that I've never had a fuel pump issue with. These failures usually seem to be coming from people in a situation like Kelson describes... broke students, or people with low incomes always on the ragged edge of running out of gas because they can't afford to keep it full.

I would, but I have a 90 mile round trip commute for work, and if I get an after hours call I won't have time to stop, so I stop on the way home when I'm somewhere around 300 miles.

And it's more than just work.
If shit hits the fan and we have to bug out, less than 1/4 tank isn't much.

That's what I liked about my Suburban... 42 gallon tank meant a 600 mile range OR enough gas to keep the Honda generator running for days.

I live on an island , bugging out for me would require a boat , I'm 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean in any direction

For around town driving I usually average around 320 miles or around there. With nothing but freeway driving, maybe 340 to 360.

    Victoria?

Remember a local band called "Fugitive" from the 90s?
My friend Doug was their guitarist.
