    At 16mpg, ya.

    The gauge is meaningless.

    It's a gauge, it's not a meter.

    Lots baby!
Made a 330 mile trip this week end. I got 18.5 mph with a S/C X-Runner, loaded with gear and averaging 70 mph.

Before lift and tires I was getting about 350 miles to a tank (17gal). Have not seen what the lift and tires has done, but working on that tank now

This is my 3rd tank in my 4 cyl and so far it gets 20 on the low side and 22 on the high side. Thts very mixed driving including arouns town and offroad. Distance is just under 400 miles pn average thoughy fillups have been 16 - 18 gallons.

Im very very happy with those numbers. I love my truck.

400 miles consistently with a combination of both city & hwy rarely get above 70 mph.

    wow.
I did not think this was going to come out this way...

I did what I said - (filled up at half of a tank)
    here are my numbers:
    travelled 192mi on 9.5gal=20.2mpg

never get that when city driving.
    the best was 18.6mpg

so it looks like one does get better fuel economy with the tank 1/2 full or more.

It's the real half mark by consumption. Half mark when read for us would be 34.5 l, not 40 l.

you do the math... I just punched the numbers into Fuelly.
but a quick google calculation reveals this

    192/9.5=20.2

and I didnt say I was going to run my tank down 10.5 gallons.
I said I was going by the gauge - which we all know is not exact.

    Ya , I get that

    9.5 gallons isn't half a 21.1 gallon tank though

You'll actually get better mileage on an empty tank.

As a pilot you should know how much weight 20 gallons of fuel adds to your vehicle.

Noticed on the way home today... rolled 300 miles, Ultragauge says I've got another 220 to empty.

I'm going to gas up on the way home tomorrow.

I get 400 miles on pretty much every tank. That is why I got a 4 banger.

Seems to be the norm for me as well. City/hwy, a/c on or off, still 400-410 miles.

Finally got enough data to feel okay about putting my fuelly link in my sig.

Of course, I haven't had a 26.5mpg tank since I joined Fuelly so now Gelo will say I was bullshitting :D

Just clocked 427.1 miles in my 2008 4cyl, 5spd Stock Prerunner with Raider Cap.
    Tank fill took 20.155 gallons.

    That was close.
