It's easy to get 700+hp out of any of the new diesels, on stock internals. Lots of guys are over the 1000hp mark with twin turbos.

I don't. It's all in the maintenance, choice of fluids, driving style, route, and so forth.

I had the six speed 4x4 above 24 mpg a few times (wound up with a lifetime average of 21.6 mpg) and his 2WD automatic has fewer moving parts and a much better overdrive.

With the 4 cyl 4x4 my best tank was 27.1 mpg with a current lifetime avg of 24.5 mpg (39 tanks), although I have a feeling this deep freeze we're about to get will drop a couple tenths off of that.

The idea behind a lighter vehicle getting better mileage is not my theory. Take 2 identical vehicles, add 500 pounds to one of them (it's easier than removing 500 pounds) and the lighter truck will outperform the heavier truck every time, in acceleration, braking, and mileage. The EPA (everyone's favorite government watchdog) says that for every 100 lbs. taken out of a vehicle the fuel economy is increased by 1 to 2 percent. A 10% weight reduction in a full size truck would theoretically give you a 4% gain in fuel economy.

If these MPG numbers of 24-26 from a DC 4x4 V6 are in real world use...

Wouldn't it be feasible for Toyota to duplicate in a lab setting? And then use such numbers?

in city Mileage, at a constant stead state on flat terrain (hwy) weight has very little if any affect on aerodynamics.

I don't think I ever said that weight affected aerodynamics.

I get thats its "limit". Here is AZ I have seen numerous people (from what I could tell not breaking a law) from the carpool lane going the speed limit with 2+ people, hindering traffic and have a cop pull up on their ass, turn their lights on and have them make their way all the way to the SLOW lane then quickly speed off passing them. As well, friends of my parents (older people) get tickets for going 5-10mph UNDER the posted limit as it was hindering/obstructing the flow of traffic.

EPA doesn't work that way Larry, EPA testing is specific driving, not the potentially better commute driving many of us have. A pre-runner V6 like GTOJim has can get 24-26 no problem with good weather, low speeds, high altitude, etc.

EPA rating for you truck is 16 City/21 Highway/18 Combined. EPA is also based on driving the speed limit.

Show us the sticker that has 23 highway.
