Is 230 miles out of 3/4 of a tank good?

Your gas gauge is NOT accurate.
There are a lot of threads already on this topic.
A standard V6 setup gets around 18-21mpg depending on local conditions.
Add big tires and the mpg drops.

I was going to start a new thread for a question i had but i will shoot it here..is it normal for you guys to drive 30 miles or so and have the gas gauge dramatic drop? for example i did about a 30 mile trip..id say like four hills or so..nonhighway driving which should be two gallons of fuel (assume your getting 16 MPG)... the other day I started a 30 mile trip on 3/4 of a tank and at the end of the trip ended just below the half tank mark?..that seems a little off to have such a consuption in fuel.I remeber when i first got my truck long trips were never really a problem or driving around town didnt use so much fuel.even driving to fire department which is like 5.7 mile trip drops the gas gauge....I've recently changed the air filter.did an oil change and tire rotation in june..I dont ride with any added weight either.and put a lucas gas cleaner in..I have been having trouble with my control arms and bushing on all the wheels.which have been balding the tire and probally putting excessive amount of work on the truck..is that normal gas consumption or related to the control arms...also with control arms rattle and shaking and not functioning proper id assume thats going to put more work on the truck and tire..thus meaning truck brakes are doing more work so i should assume the brakes are doing douple work? ...I have the parts being shipped to my mechanic and I'm going to put new tires on the truck I'm just curious why past year and a half I've been using so much fuel..I feel like I'm getting the fuel economy of a tractor trailer..I understand its a truck but the amount the gas is dropping for small trips seems odd...

    It's a gauge... it's not a meter.
It is not designed to tell you exactly how much fuel you have... it is there to let you know approximately how much you have, so you can use that information in combination with your trip odometer and your familiarity with the truck to know how long you have to go before you need fuel.

Mine will seem to stay on "full" for 100 miles... but it doesn't really... it's creeping down. By 150 miles or so, it'll be on 3/4.... but I know I'm not going to get 600 miles on a tank.
It might be at 250 miles by 1/2 tank... and that's actually pretty close.
It drops quickly from there... but when it hits "E" and the light comes on, I still have 4 gallons left, which is really close to 1/4 tank!

Considering i have 3 inches of lift and 32 in duratracs... I calculated 13.3 but that seems TOO low. Thats why i decided to ask. But i do have loud exhaust that i love hearing so thats probably why

32" Duratracs are going to hurt.
Stock height is closer to 30.5, so your odometer and speedometer are going to be about 5% off, so your calculated MPG will be off by 5%... but that only bumps 13.3 to 14.

    Two things need to happen:

1)Bring back school dicipline (yes this includes uniforms)

2)School Vouchers (marginalize the union and allow the best teachers to teach)

    jus' sayin' :D
