The speedo may be off, but odometers are rarely off. Cross check the odometer reading with your GPS. I bet it's right on. If odometers are off this can get OEM's in a lot of trouble. Especially when it comes to warrantee or emissions related items.....

the odo measures off your speedometer you dont have a odometer GPS that tells your truck how far it's gone, you have a bigger wheel or bigger tires that's gonna effect your odometer, i've only been in one car that's been exact to the GPS every almost every car out there's speedo is off a mph or 2

I think that's incorrect. They receive different inputs from the computer.

actually, the odometer and spedometer both read from a sensor on the transmission output shaft, and the abs sensors, but if you have larger tires than factory the hub is still spinning the same speed but you are going further because of the increased circumfrence of the wheel so infact they are both off.

I know that increasing the tire size affects the odometer as well. What I'm saying is that just because the speedometer is off, that doesn't mean the odometer is off (from the factory). The odometer reading isn't based on the speedometer so just because your speedometer is reading faster than you're actually going, the odometer may still be correct. They're calibrated separately. I think the factory errors to the faster indication on the speedometer. That way someone can't claim that the factory setting caused them to go over the speed limit. I've never heard of anyone complaining that their speedometer reads to slow from the factory (going 70 when the speedo indicates 65). The error is always that they're going slower than the speedo indicates.

This is correct. Both are off the same sensor on the output shaft on the trans to the ECU. The ECU then sends seperate signals, one to the speedo stepper motor control and on to redout the odemeter. Both arn't necessarily in sync.

i think every manufactuer calibrates theirs a little on the high side, they'd get a bunch of crap if the speedo said 60 but you were really going 65 (speeding tickets) if they run it a little higher than what you're actually going well then you cant sue them for going slower than what it indicates cause i doubt you'll get a ticket for going 2-3mph under the speed limit

You pay less for 87 and get less miles or pay more for 93 and get more miles per tank and the truck runs better. In the end they both cost the same.
