I have a 2008 taco v6 Trd sport double can long bed have a leveling kit on 285/70 r17 also a snug top super sport camper shell. My gas mileage I'm getting is about 15 city and 17 hwy I don't have a heavy foot. Is there anything out there to improve gas mileage? Also I've noticed the loss of acceleration from a stop or a red light. Anyone have any solutions or ideas for these issues?

You have a leveling kit on tires that are heavier than OEM, I doubt you will be able to improve your gas mileage. Don't feel bad, I'm getting 16.5 on OEM tires.

stock '06 v6 DCLB - 16.5mpg (300ish miles per tank) when I'm carelessly gunning around town, 20.9 (385ish miles per tank) when I'm careful with tire pressure, not in a rush, keep rpms under 1500 (under 2000 on the highway), and the weather is friendly

I imagine that ideal tire pressure is different depending on which tire you have, the ambient temperature, and other things? I hope I don't sound too ignorant about that..

I have BFG Long Trail T/As that were new when I bought the truck in October, and I've found my ideal pressure for gas mileage to be about 38psi - although 35 psi is a more comfortable ride

Stock size tires with a street tread will help.

If you feel you are noticing a loss in acceleration from a stop, you probably have a heavier foot than you think.
Acceleration from a stop should be slow if you are babying your truck.

I run 46 in bfg ats load d per Toyota specs. Wear seems to even and I get 20-21 on hwy. I ran 42 in Duratrac C load when I had a Prerunner. 42 is what tire shop recommended.

46 seems high to me - but what do I know. Must feel everything on the road

I bet so with tires I'm running which have a maximum PSI of 45 anything over 38 and you really feel the road. Tricky with truck tires as the proper PSI can vary depending on the truck and you don't want over inflation or you run the risk of a blowout and bad wear.

I think 46 is recommended because of tire type and load factor. 62k on them and they will go 70+ and that is with serious abuse on ranch roads. Not sure what a soft tire really feels like. I have running aggressive ATs or mudders forever. Ran nylon belted Buckshots on one of my F150s

One thing to consider for yous guyz running oversize rubber: your trip odometer will understate the miles traveled. If you're doing 60 but the speedo says 55, your odometer will be 10% wrong. Meaning you will have travelled 10% further on that gallon than what the plain math (odo miles/gallons) says.
