Hi guys, my 21 OR was getting 18 to 19 on 89 oct, i filled up with 92 and got avg. 20.5 and then i filled up with clear ( no ethanol) at 5.89 a gallon about .20 cents more and got 24.5 so i am staying with clear. On flat roads i bet it well get 26.

The Ethanol burns slower but it cools off the combustion chamber more. Ethanol doesn't have the same energy as the gasoline and therefore it hurts the gas mileage a bit. Here in Arizona we get 10% ethanol and now with the predisent new law we will soon get 15% which means slightly worse gas mileage and a hair less cheaper prices at the pump.

Yes calculate you cents per mile rather than your miles per gallon everything will become clear. The boat gas ethanol free gives me a nice bump in mpg but it is almost a dollar more per gallon.

    No ethanol gas.

That's all I run just because it isn't hydroscopic and doesn't gel or eat hoses and things.

Sample size of one here I know but it seems to me like I have to do less maintenance, things last longer stay cleaner and more reliable running ethanol free which more than offsets the slightly higher cost to me on top of noticeable MPG increase and engine response.

IMHO ethanol is nasty shite I avoid it like the plague.

    Good for lawnmowers.
Efficiency for vehicles is tradeoff for cost.
    No maintenance advantage.
I did a year long experiment a few years ago. It was a wash cost wise and the same maintenance wise.

Blackstone says my oil samples are better after going E-Free less signs of wear and gunk.

Interesting. I thought all gas had some ethanol in it. Or you just got E85. Ive never seen a gas marketed as ethanol free. That or I just didnt notice it.

Octane and ethanol content aside, gas varies a lot throughout the U.S.
You can only really compare with someone from your 'gas region' with similar climate and altitude. It amazes me how car manufacturers and tuners can put out a product that plays nice with all the variations. But, maybe that's the thing; they don't.

That said, I've been using CBOB 91E0 since 2008.
