    Too few to list.
Well the Tacoma's are designed to run all octanes (87-93) but as the manual states under specs, the octane Toyota used for specs was 91.

Sport wheels added.
and the V6 is just a bit more tempermental with the varying octanes. All just a result of design. No biggie.

GoBlueFan, that is a good point, however I have run my tests and liked the results so I run 93 all fill ups.

There is no doubt that the 4 cylinder runs stronger on 91 than 87

very true, my 4cylinder 2.5 Nissan engine ran better with 91 for sure.

I use 87 in town, and when I drive the interstate I use 91. I have been using top tier gasoline. Mostly shell and chevron. I know they are expensive but they run great for my Taco.

I only use top tier gas as well, I prefer to run Shell bus usually that's more expensive so I may run Mobil or Irving.

Ran 89 for two complete tanks and didn't see any difference in power or mileage.
Now I don't know if I want to even bother with 91. Most places it isn't the normal $.20 more. It's typical $.30-$.50 more per gallon over 87.

Nothing special at the moment just a K&N air filter.
Im new here but my truck for some reason dispises 87 throttle response is low and fuel milage suffers.

Now run either 89 or 93 and no throttle response problems but even more intresting is that 93 did NOT change fuel milage 89 octane fuel gives me 21.2 mpg combined hwy and city on pure hwy it gives me 23.5mpg accoring to previous mpg calculations. 93 octane burns slower and in a low compression engine wouldent make much sence, 87 burns faster but lacks the cleaning ability since it has no additives. 89 octane is a good ballence it has a sufficent amount of cleaning additives and is excellent for lower compression engines.

mine def. doesnt. if i put 92 or 93 in my truck, it doesnt run right. my throttle response will feel shitty and plus it gets worse gas mileage...no idea why

That doesn't even make sense. 93 octane is more combustible than 87, that's what the octane rating means. That's why some stations have 101 or higher octane for performance vehicles.

Getting better millage is another thing. Again until someone dyno's results... I'll keep running 91. I run 91 because the previous owner on my '92 Dodge Stealth R/T TT was running 87 and built up an excessive amount of carbon from the crappy low octane gas. It wasn't able to burn as cleanly and efficently as the engine demanded (even 91 is pretty low for it). Since then, I think of the 20 cents or so a gallon as just an added insurance plan for my engine. Also considering I drive it hard, I'm willing to spend a couple of extra bucks on it.

Higher octane rating means slower burning fuel. AKA-Lower flashpoint. If I'm misusing terms, forgive me. I'm tired as fuck, but the idea in my head is sound.
