I had the gas pedal recall done a few years ago. I was curious if anyone knew what would happen if I bought an older gas pedal and reinstalled in my truck? Was there a reflash done with the recall or does it matter what size pedal is there?

Not sure you could even find the old style OEM pedal anymore

I could be mistaken, but I always thought the main problem was that too many people were stacking floor mats, which built up under the pedal - which caused a problem ... (I could be wrong, but I seem to remember something like that)

    I don't recall a reflash ...

I refused to let the dealer cut the pedal on my 2009 so there is one out there. Pedal was not the problem now we have to deal with the stupid gocart pedal.

Doesn't matter what size pedal you use, the reflash was for brake override.

Re-flash was a separate recall. I've told them NOT to butcher my gas pedal, so there are at least 2 un-modded pedals out there.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
my 2008 was not touched either. so theres at least 3.

besides, you can't fix stupid by flashing brake patches and cutting gas pedals.

Chrysler had 400 MORE claims of SUA on just the jeep grand cherokee in one year than the whole Toyota line and they didn't do shit..

cutting the pedal was Toyotas quick, easy, and mostly inexpensive way out of a jam with the NTSB and that is all it was. I had a real battle convincing the dealer to do a couple of TSBs and not cut my pedal. I told them if they cut they would never see me again. They even tried to bluff me with some bs about it not passing inspection. They did not cut it but I noticed on the invoice that they charged Toyota for it. Toyota came down hard on them if they had in the shop and did not cut it so they had to show that they did.

I would actually like to find one of the older pedals... May have a hard time finding one unless I go to salvage yard.
