I'm at a loss for words, too. I can't understand why your testicles are attached to the type of vehicle you drive. I'll never understand this (lack of) logic.

It is incredibly hard to offend me. Incredibly hard. And yet you have almost managed to do so. I find it completely appalling and unnacceptable that a Tacoma owner would say something so rude and juvenile.

What in Gods frickin name are you talking about????! What a stupid uneducated response. I have 3 motorcycles and the least one does 50 MPG. I rode it all last week to work and saved tons of money in Gas. It's cheap as hell to maintain and the cost of iinsurance is $149 per year! And what the hell are you talking about with that dumbass comment about fighting the powers that be? Stupid ass.

If you go out and buy(like the OP said) a high MPG cycle($3 to 5K) just to get better mileage, you have the cost of the cycle, insurance(hopefully you buy it),extra property taxes, expensive tires that last 9 to 12K miles, expensive oil filters if you use oem, Helmet, unless you have no brains, boots if you value your ankles and lower legs, a leather jacket if you value your arms. I have just bought you a lot of gas. Plus small bikes are selling for 15 to 25% above list. If you allready have a bike, yes your expenses will be lower on some of these items. I don't think I am too nucking futs. The powers that be, are the oil and commodities traders that operate with basically no restrictions.

Good point, plus riding in the cold morning air and getting rained on, almost killed a couple of times will make that $10 more a week in gas seem like a really good investment.

What I don't understand is why people with "low" car payments (or none like me) will turn around and buy a hybrid which traditionally are high priced then finance them for more that what they're currently paying just to save on fuel costs. I think people forget that they're making the payments for some reason.

I pay about $430/month for my van and truck but both are paid for. People will look at me and ask why I drive my truck at 20mpg and today's gas prices. I simply tell them that driving a hybrid would cost me double what I'm currently paying and in 5 years when it was paid for as well I would be spending $5000+ to service the hybrid batteries. Makes no sense at all to me. For me it's cheaper all the way round to stay with my truck!!

I guess the same would be true if I were to go get a motorcycle as well. The cost of buying another vehicle could put a lot of fuel in my tank

i agree, if you already own a vehicle, buying a new vehicle just for the purpose of saving gas doesnt make any sense. i'm not a big fan of hybrids personally. although i would never bash someone or insult them personally for driving it. members that do that need to find another forum

Dang, I got insulted and missed it, didn't check this thread for a day or two. And now I don't see the post in which I was insulted, just a few comments from other members. Oh well....

I agree, if you don't need a car it doesn't make good economic sense to buy a Prius (or other hybrid) at this time. However, if you are in the market for a car anyway, then they deserve consideration IMHO. Prii are generally compared to the Honda Fit or Toyota Yaris by the naysayers who then go on to opine that you can save $7-8,000 by purchasing the Fit/Yaris, and referring to that sum of money as the "hybrid premium". Well, that isn't a valid comparison. The Prius is a mid-sized car, seats 5 adults, is quite roomy and comfortable, and performs surprisingly well. I believe it is more comparable to an Accord or a Camry. If that is the case, the so-called "hybrid premium" shrinks considerably. And the Prius has been rated #1 by Consumer Reports in several categories, including both "best mileage" and "most reliable" car presently on the market.

I love my Tacoma and I love my Prius. That is all. Carry on.

PS: I have a couple of motorcycles too. The Prius gets better mileage than either of them.

Viper, this isn't what I read earlier from you, you must have edited your response. I just wanted to say to you to "Cool your jets". It's not worth getting all bent out of shape for! It's just a forum. Life's f-ed up enough to let people bother you.

I bought a 50cc scooter last summer for fun and living in a resort town it go me to and from my destination faster then an auto with all the traffic, bus & bike lanes FTW!!! I can park it like a bike, don't need insurance, and it will will cruise at 45MPH all day long. (Highest speed limit around town is 40MPH). It gets about 80MPG or so and I am WOT all the time.

This summer it looks like it will get more use, a lot more use.
