2010 DC LB V6 4X4, with 700 miles on it.

The "E" light came on at 300 miles, I went till the entire needle was just below the "E" line, that was at 325 miles. I put 18.5 gallons in it, that tank averaged 17.5mpg. I should have had 2.5 gallons still in the tank, thinking that I could have went another 40 miles or so. I'm going to push it a little farther next time.

I've gone almost 40 but never wanted to push it that far. really i dont feel there is much need for it since i have consistently added 17 Gals after the e light. i'm pretty confident i have 4 gals left after the e light.

It goes both ways buddy, the lower you run your tank, the higher the chance crap and debris gets sucked into your fuel lines. :)
That really is crap gas, but it bugs me when people say the gas is watered down at places like arco and other places... gasoline does not mix with water, and cannot be watered down. But sounds like you got some shitty gas

Personally I believe they put peanut butter in the gas, they think it benefits the petroleum jelly.

Ever since the blackout in '03, I always have enough fuel in the tank to comfortably make it to our country place.

Sooooo today my fuel light came on .3 miles from the gas station so i stopped to fill up..wouldn't you know it, it took 16.9 gals and i clicked one more time to get 17. I think i got enough data, so know i'm going to fill up and then annotate the gals it takes to "Top Off" after the normal fill up process has been completed.

I suppose you could get crappy gas, with dirt, and water in it, if you fill up at the same time as the tanker truck is refilling the underground tanks, that gets the sediment and water that normally remains in the bottom of the tank all stirred up, at least I have heard and read that in many places, and it makes sense. I always avoid buying gas when the tanker truck is there, and have never had that kind of problem, fwiw.

I drove mine to far below E and filled it up and it took a little less than 19 gallons, so I could have driven 46 more miles before dry. So I can drive 92 miles after the light comes on, but won't test that theory.

Reading this thread, I am reminded of the episode of Seinfeld when Kramer went test driving a car and ran out of gas. :D

    Lets see...

I let the level run down very close to "E". Not on "E", no light on, but marker just in front of.

    I ran 360 miles.

When I filled up, I put 16.6 gallons in. No top off.

    With awesome math skills....

    21.7 mpg.

The fuel pump thing, very true about GM trucks. The early 20_ _ stuff was pretty bad with that.
