Looks like a minimum of $120 lol

It’s either an evap leak from one of the hoses or it’s a leak in the tank itself, likely along the seam. I’d also like to note that the CEL came on when I was at 1/4 tank and there’s a very faint smell of gas when it sits for a while.

anyone have any creative ideas on how to tell whether it’s a fuel leak or an evap leak? Both are pretty easy fixes, I have JB weld and new hoses on hand. But I’d really like to avoid replacing the whole tank.

I also got a code for a small evap leak a month or two ago. Since then I've replaced the gas cap and vacuum lines in the engine bay, and the code has not returned. However I think it's likely that I also have a leak around the gas tank gasket and/or filler neck. I've done some Youtube research on DIY smoke machines, here are a few videos that might help.

I saw second video before but i was a bit leery to pump a hot gas into my gas tank...I suppose that method is better than the burning towels in the jar since there’s no flame or opportunity for sparks.

Can you guys confirm that the extra cab 6 lug trucks only use one strap in the back and the skid plate is technically what holds it in the front ?

This is correct. 2 bolts up front to the frame and 1 strap in the back.

Are all the tanks universal for 4wd ext cabs? I know my 04 has the evap back there and I’m really worried about getting the wrong tank shipped

Yes 2wd 15 and 4wd is 18. Not that you ever can get that much gas in them.

I’ve been slowly fixing the truck for the past while. Got it legal, and Driving and working sound. I’d always just put 10 bucks so fuel wouldn’t sit

filled it today and then this happened

I’m going to JB weld steel stick it until I can order a tank soon.

Im unsure of what exact tank to get because I have an 04 with the evap in the back

I got a CEL for evap too finally about two and a half months ago. Still chasing after it, I’m replacing the fuel pump soon so I’m gonna try to find it when I do that. Or find someone that has a smoke machine.

@Tour991 shipping as you know in our many conversations is fucking deadly to hawaii, But I cross referenced the part number with the dorman website. It will fit.
