Pretty easy to drop the tank out the bottom if you pull the bed. There are 3 hoses and 1 electrical plug to undo. Take the 2 straps off and the bolt that holds the filler neck to the frame. You and your friend could do it in half a day or less

BF is correct. it took me <30 minutes by myself to drop and install it, but the bed was already off

Yeah, that fits. I'm guessing a tank is a tank and I shouldn't worry about aftermarket vs oem, right?

That's just the first one I saw, I'm sure if you look for a bit you could find a used oem one. Although I wouldn't have a problem with aftermarket either.

Some brands of after market tanks can be of random quality about like the China Built welders

One thing you need to think about it is you and your friend doing this job quite easy to tell some one it is easy when your far away.

So many different skill levels who can say where you are.

I can say it is easy for me to build a new frame for a Tacoma but would never tell someone else it is a easy job.

Its pretty easy to get the tank out. its 5 bolts and 2 pins you knock out. getting the clips and hoses disconnected may suck, but thats more of a pain in the ass rather than "hard". the nice thing you have going for you is if you break off flange bolts in the tank, who cares you arent reusing it.

New tank is ordered. Hopefully installing it this weekend, weather permitting. As for removing the bed, is it just the 4 bolts and disconnecting the filler neck?
I only saw one strap toward the rear. It was under the skid plate with a couple bolts through the skid. Is the front strap hidden under the skid or do the TRDs only have one strap? Only asking because I saw one so I ordered one.

It's one. The front of the skid is what holds it. I did a 4cyl reg cab and that had 2
    Bed is 6 bolts

New tank is in! I can't imagine doing this job without pulling the bed. Having access to the top of the tank made a world of difference.
Everything went fairly smooth except when I tried to muscle one of the tank bolts out and snapped the head off. Luckily my mechanically savvy friend was able to remedy my mistake, and even had a bolt in his junk drawer that fit perfectly.
Very happy that this job is done. As for the check engine light, will it turn off on its own when a vacuum test is done? How long does that normally take?

Thanks again for all your tips and advice.
