Sounds like most shops now a days of playing part roulette. Eventually they will get the right part. My mom had a check engine light on her 2001 Elantra. She took it to a shop, bad o2 sensor. Week later check eng light comes back on. Back to same shop, must be bad o2 sensor let's swap it again. Week later light comes back on. Now they want to do $1200 hundred dollar replacement catylitic conveyor because that has to be it. Turned out to be a bad engine to body ground, I sanded the the area reinstalled the ground stap and she drove it for years later with no check eng lite.

 

Sometimes the most obvious and easy fix is the right one. Nice catch man!

 

Been there, done that, and have the T shirt......so many times I wouldn't know where to begin.....

I chalk it up to a learning experience. Sometimes the tuition for these lessons is steep, but we rarely forget them.....

 

I always say, "You can't buy experience, but you do pay for it."

 

Hopefully, only once. As decades have passed since I started having an obsession with 4x4's, specifically FJ-40's, sometimes those early lessons slip past me only to bite me in the ass. Occasionaly I catch it before it bites too hard and deep.....
