Warranties matter up to a point. They build confidence on the buyer's end. It tells you that the manufacturer stands behind their product and trusts their own product.

Good to know it's not a flimsy 30 day warranty. That says a lot.

If you guys want attention, Here's my advice from GB hosting experience: Could you ask one of the moderators like @tcBob to place the thread on the group buy banner to the right of the TW homepage?

How about placing it on the TW sister page? 4runners.com?

I think it'll be a good idea to edit the OP to include warranty information. :)

@at_olw Thanks for the support and the amazing pics! If your truck could talk I'm sure it's got some good stories!

I try really hard to stand behind what I say and what I put my name behind, I really appreciate that you notice it.

The lights are great and I just need some more folks to pick them up to see what they are all about!

@ramonortiz55 The warranty isn't huge issue, but I also don't want to oversell myself. Right now the warranty is tied to the manufacturer in China. I don't make anything on the GB's and very little at retail, so it's the most I can offer without charging more. I could double the price and I could offer a better warranty and even cover a replacement easily, but I don't want to charge that much.

That being said, I stand behind what I sell and I'd rather undersell and over deliver, than to promise the moon and only take you have way there.

    @Iggy.

My previous two posts were sincere questions and comments. In no manner am I trying to bash or cause a ruckus. I know you're a good guy, I've seen your products and customer service. I trust you, so if i came up as a bad poster, I apologize.

I am actually in the market for lights for my 4runner build. The lumen output on these puppies are impressive, which made me inquire to the manufacturer for the lumen output of the lights i currently have in mind purchasing.

Pending that info, i might sign up for a pair of these. :)

@ramonortiz55 No worries! I didn't take it that way at all, I was just making sure in case anyone else reading was wondering why I didn't have a "lifetime" warranty or something like that.

I appreciate the advice! I don't have an account on the 4Runner site, but I should look into it. If we get enough people we can really bring the price down.

Anyone have a pic of these things behind the grill of a 2013 Tacoma? Seeing how big they were on the bumper of @at_olw is making me nervous. I want them to fit and the entire light to shine through without cutting too much of the top and bottom of the light off...

So I was comparing these with a set of 9inch hella lights retro fitted to HID. (Rallye 4000, like the ones I have on my Tacoma at the bottom of this post)

The retro fit HID hella lights are at 120 [Watts] and 14,000 [lumens].

These produce a lumen capacity of 10,500 [lumens] at 185 [watts] each.

3,500 [lumen] difference between both is negligible.

I don't care about the amp draw since I have a custom high output alternator on my 4runner.

I don't want to deal with the ballast getting water damaged or the HIDs taking a hot second to "warmup"..

I really like the look of the hella casing tho.

    Im torn between the two.

When those HID's burn out...that's another, what, $50+ for new bulbs. Also, Where are you getting the 14,000 lumen count from? Just out of curiosity...I could have sworn even 100w HID's retrofitted maxed out about 5k lumens or so per light.

So by that...even with 2 HID retrofits, even at 14000 lumens...you're shooting light all over the place. I ran 4 Hello 500's and some hella 700s at one point, all retrofitted...it was a bitch to aim them and even then I was wasting SO many lumens.

With these LEDs (which i don't even have yet) You're looking at 10k lumens output PER LIGHT. And they sell in pairs. And if an LED goes bad...you have, what...20 more on the light, or something? I walked away from HID and went LED and never looked back.

@at_olw can you post close up pics of how you have them mounted.

Also pics of what they look like from behind.

    Thanks

I did a conversion from a formula lol.

Doesn't take into account heat losses and ballast imperfections, so it could be lower.

Yea, I would be VERY surprised if a single Hella Rallye put out more than 10k lumens. Anyhoo, buy these lights :D

A stock hella rallye light outputs about 700 [lumens] using a halogen lamp, retrofitted to HIDs its 14,000 [lumens] per my calculations, not taking into account losses.

By what calculations? Also remember, HIDS aren't designed for reflector bowls, so you're losing ALOT of light by retrofitting. So that 14k is great to throw around, but just not possible in a retrofitted Hella.

Formula i pulled out of a text book. converts wattage to lumens using a constant from a chart.

Ok well, it's your choice :). LED is much more reliable.

Lumen ratings are kind of weird. So a lot of light companies use a RAW lumen calculation which basically adds up what each LED is capable of, in this case the CREE XT-E 5w puts out 456 lumens. If I used the same calculation that everyone else does, each light puts out a theoretical 16,872 lumen (37*456).

The effective rate is lower since you have losses. The numbers I have from the manufacture are what I posted so they are not exaggerated, but they are using real numbers vs theory. Although I don't know how they tested them to get those numbers or if that's the rating at a certain distance.

Theoretically a pair of these lights puts out 33,744 lumens.
