So me being me I tore the truck down 6 days before a wheeling trip haha. I have both axles apart and both driveshafts are at Oliver's. I was told the rear was locked but the PO didn't know how so since it was on jackstands and the driveshaft was already out I pulled the shafts and third and it's a damn lunchbox locker that I'll probably blow first trip out.

Then I took the crossmember to my dad's to try out the plasma he just bought. Cut a "u" out of the passenger side to clear the driveshaft since this is meant to be a driver drop x member.

Front axle stripped. I've got knuckleball gussets coming and I'm going to weld a nut in the steering stops and box them in. Also since nobody makes diff armor for the 9.5" I'm going to pick up some 1/4" and copy the TG armor.

Land Cruiser 9.5" next to the taco 8.4"

And here's where I left off for the night. Wheeling in less than a week! :goingcrazy:

The way the weather is looking you probably got plenty time. I would put money on him calling the ride off.

Yeah with all the snow in the forcast up this way I figured it would be rain down there and I don't do mud.. You think he'd call such a big event off?

Haha good deal. Well hopefully the weather will hold out. Worst case I'm sure I'll be down there soon. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if I could get a few easy trips in the books before beating on it some. I can at least have some time to break the front ring and pinion in that way

Gonna run whatever this is till it breaks. Then I'll probably go with a spool if they make one for it

Locker looks like a powertrax locker... I had the same ones and guess what?

Oh I'm fully aware of what's going to happen, not much I can do about it at this point besides keeping off the gas. I just hope it doesn't take out the gears when it goes. Do they make spools for the 8.4?

Mine took the gears and the carrier. Cost me about $1000. Now it has a spool and I "shouldnt" need to worry haha.

I can setup my own gears so that should save me a few $$. Where did you buy your spool from?

That front axle will be looking nice when it goes back together! I havnt read through your whole build yet, do you have longfields in the front axle?

Hopefully it will be looking nice! I freshened up the knuckles after I brought it home (packed trunions, wheel bearings, added more grease everywhere, tightened wheel bearings) so I'm not touching those. I'll probably paint it while it's out too. And yeah I pulled the TG 30 spline's and chromo inner and outer hub gears out of my 82 to use in this. Everything is interchangeable except for the short side shaft and that should be here Thursday.
