Try driving with ECT engaged before tuning. If that doesn't help, I would look into a tune.

I guess it must be the terrain or something because I do not experience the gear hunting issue.

I'm convinced the tuners on the forum perpetuate the gear hunting/transmission shifting issues, which new owners then convince themselves they are experiencing, which pushes them back to the tuners for remedy.

I'm quite confused about all this 'transmission hunting' stuff. My truck runs fine.
Perhaps a clean and easy acceleration is in order. ... I find the shift point acceptable, the truck doesn't hunt up or down, it runs just fine.

For EPA reasons Toyota engineers programmed the ECU to tell the engine and transmission to shift early. It’s called forced value. It drives some folks nuts as it sometimes up shifts too early only to downshift to meet load requirements. If it bothers you a tune that replaces the stock programming will eliminate that. After a tune you will experience a more traditional or familiar sensation while driving. My 2020 is stock and after 2 years the early shifting doesn’t bother me. However, I also use ETC (Tow/Haul) mode and S-mode when needed. Specifically aggressive city/daily driving and steep mountain grades.

It more so depends where you live and drive. In California doing 75-80 on the highways everywhere my truck would shift all the time. Now I'm in New Hampshire and the speed limit rarely is above 55 its fine

My truck used to hunt gears big time during the first 1000 miles. Since then ( I'm up to 3500 miles now), I havent really felt any gear hunting. Either the truck has learned how I drive or I have adapted to it, but either way, drives fine now and I don't notice any gear hunting.
