But there's no gears in a cvt...

Sorry if posted already: I recently replaced the stock tires with 33s and first thing I noticed was the change in how the transmission was operating. It wanted to stay in 4th and 5th gears and hardly ever going to 6th. There was some lag issues as well. Gas mileage went down (I know the revolutions per mile changes the MPH and MPG) but since trying to stay in lower gears the mileage went down even though the weight difference in tires and wheels only changed slightly.
I started to think that the transmission was "calibrated" to the old set up, so when I went for an oil change I asked the service tech about any TSBs or other things I could do. He suggested to reset the tranny's learning memory and this will start the process all over. I did and it cost about $100.
This has made a big difference, shifts through the gears and goes to 6th without going downhill and taking my foot off the pedal. Its still in the learning stage but have seen the mileage jump back up as well. Mind that I do not have any additional weight to speak of, so this may not make a big difference with those that do.

What the fuck... they charged you $100 to disconnect the battery for a few minutes?

You get the high rpm wind out, rev hang and jerky acceleration feeling and never feeling like there is enough power, low speed judder. To me feels similar to old Nissan CVT setups in feel. They were brutal to drive. Even the pathfinders a few years ago felt this way.

How many results? I am 18 taco, 33” skinnies. I don’t have issues on highway or in the sheets. I mean streets..
