The gear indicator lights on my 2006 v-6 AT have been acting up. 4 will not longer display (not that it matters too much) but when I drive in the rain, R lights up (while driving in D). It will go away once it dries out so I am guessing something is just shorting. Any ideas what?

The gear indicator is connected to a plug on the transmission. I would crawl under your truck. pull each plug connected to the transmission. Dry them out good with compressed air. After you plug them back in coat them with some RTV silicone to keep them dry.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Could be or a loose connection somewhere that is allowing water in.

2007 Tacoma: This issue with the gear indicator lights on the dash seem to be directly linked to the gear shifter (the stick) movement, because if I wiggle it, I can see the "D" flashing and eventually with a bit of perseverance, I can get it to stay lit.
Question: Is there any switch in the gear shifter (in the console) that may not make contact properly? (It is extremely cold these days - can it be related to this?)
