GEAR RATIO FOR SPEED. plz help

    A lot to know about this kind of stuff. Just because you install a higher gear doesn't mean your Taco will go faster. Just for #'s if your Taco, wide open on the interstate will run 110 mph @ 5500 rpm, If you install a higher gear 5500 rpm. would be faster "IF" the eng had enough power to get to 5500 rpm. but with the higher gear, it probably won't. Probably all it can get will be maybe 4750 rpm., due to lack of power. Now you're down to maybe 103 mph. Now you got to add enough power to get you back up to 5500 rpm. Learned this years ago with old 750 Honda motorcycles. Most would run faster in 4 th than in 5 th, they would pull higher rpm. in 4 th, then shift to 5 th & they just didn't have the power to get the rpms back up.
