Thanks for the replies. The wheels are 6 lug. Think 33s would be ok for 4.10 and 4 cylinder?

Would be rough daily drivin it, especially if it's a stick. Going to 33s I'd recommend 4.56 minimum, 4.88 would be good if you plan to wheel.

Hey guys, I'm new to the cite and not sure how to use this yet but I have a 2006 4 litre v6 and I have a 2.75 rancho longer shock in front and add a leaf in the back so 3" lift kit I guess and I have 32" tires I want to do a 3" body lift to get to 6" lift and put 35s for tires do I need different gearing? And what is my gearing right now?

33's on the v6 and id want to regard..... 35's id sure as hell want to regear, you wouldnt be able to hold 5th lockup in the auto with 35's and the stock 3.73 unless going downhill with a tailwind haha.

FYI all 6 lug 4 bangers have 4.10's and all v6 6 luggers have 3.73's

I have 33s and a supercharger and I will be re-gearing asap. Some people don't mind but I hate driving under-geared trucks. Most hills it will unlock the torque converter in OD and heat up the trans a lot, usually I lock out overdrive when I'm climbing for better performance and lower trans temps. Otherwise the transmission hunts a lot on inclines.

I have 33s and manual 4.0. Fuel economy is really good and I wheel lightly and tow with no problem. My buddy is on 35s with no issues. For more technical wheeling, I'd like new gears. I'm hoping to do both lockers next summer, so I'll regear if I can make that happen. 4.33 probably.

Gear ratios are a lot different in the manual trans. Highway rpm is a lot higher with manual trans, all else being equal.

So do you think I should regear or no? I just don't understand why the truck can pull 6500lbs but they can't turn a couple inch bigger tires?

hold fifth ? I've had 35's with stock gears for 8 years, one advantage is 2000 rpm @ 80 mph on the highway = better mpg. Sure it's slower off the line but this ain't no ricer racer...

I couldn't live with a 4cyl, stock gears and 33", and for sure I couldn't tolerate 4.0 and 35" with stock 3.73... I would go 4.56 on both setups.. I'm running 4.10 (from 3.73) with 33" and love it, some find it a waist but I'm on the highway lots and it's perfect...

A stock 2.7l 6 lug has 3.58 gear ratio, while the stock 4x4 2.7l has a 4.10 and both stock v6 6 lugs whether it be 4WD or 2wd have 3.73 gear ratios.

Pretty bad but just buy the hypertech speedo recalibrator it is a piece of cake to install and the software is super easy to use.

If I don't regear what does it actually do to my truck like it will only be slower of the line?

If you absolutely will stay with 35s and do lots of highway driving then 4.56 ... some do 4.88, too low for my preferences.
