I just bought a 2010 Tacoma a couple of days ago, (automatic) I could have swore that when I put it in gear the light next to the shifter would light up to indicate what gear I was in, I know it's working on the dashboard, and my shifter console is lit, I just really thought when I was in drive it lit up brighternext to "D"...

Only had the truck a couple of days, I may have imagined it..lol

    Thanks For Any Info

Yep, you're imagining it. Only indication, other than physical position of shift lever, is the dash indicator light.

My 06 has a light in the console next to the shifter that indicates what gear I'm in.
Easy to check, just unscrew the shifter knob and pull up on the console shifter cover, ( it's just snapped in ) and check the little bulb next too the shifter.
If you need the part # for the bulb let me know, the little orange condom over it should come right off to be placed on the new bulb, if it doesn't come off, I have the part # for that also.
