450 miles in with 5.29 gears. Got them assembled by ecgs and installed by a local 4x4 shop.

I have not done much driving over 60mph per the break in period, but I was driving interstate tonight. I got a noticeable whine at 70mph. Only under throttle. When I let off throttle, it stopped.

the sound is similar to a howling roof rack (been there before), but I have not changed anything on my roof in quite a while. Also, the noise stopping when I let off the throttle makes me think it’s not aero related.

So my question - if ECGS assembled them and the local shop installed them, who should I call first on this? I’m not as schooled as some of y’all in the set up tolerances, but am I right that all of that would have been done by ECGS in the shop?

What size tires? My 6MT on 5.29s ran on the stock tires for a bit and right at 70 I got a ringing noise, kind of like a tea kettle noise. Only in 6th and 5th, completely gone in 4th. Does yours do it in 4th too? Mine is also only on the throttle, I think it’s just the gear teeth spinning so fast in 5th and 6th since they’re ODs.

    Good questions

    33” all terrains

    Yes it happened in 6th

    I will check 5th tomorrow.

I was/am nervous to get to 70mph in 4th during the break in period. Pretty high rpm with these new gears at that speed.

overall the regear is sick and it makes the truck drive exactly how I’ve always wanted. I was 100% positive about it until this whine.

I’ll also get up above 70mph tomorrow to see if it quits.

The gears are spinning fast at 70 no matter what gear trans is in, so you’re safe to test it out. Your tach will be around 3800 or so at 70.

Agreed, regear is awesome on the manual transmission. 5.29 on 32’s and love it.
