I am looking for input from people that have 4:88 or 5:29 gears.
    1. What tire size you running.?
    2. What extras you got on truck.?
    3. What gears you went with.?
    4. RPM’s at 70 mph
Things like that and of course if you would have went with something else. I tend to go around 80 when in a hurry ( I don’t do it often at all just when I’m late for things lol ) and don’t want to be running extremely high RPM when I do. I plan on getting bed rack , bumpers, armor , and heavier leaf springs. Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks

If you are staying near stock - 4.88s
If you are adding larger tires, bumpers, bed rack, tent, etc - 5.29s

On an AT 3rd Gen 5.29s should be your only option regardless of weight. The stock AT 3rd Gens benefit from 5.29s on stock tires let alone when adding bigger tires and weight.

I would also strongly recommend going with Yukon rather than Nitro.

This brought me no clarity :annoyed:
I was pretty set on 4.88s due to mostly stock ... aside from running 32s and what will be plenty of highway driving.

Noise. Nitro is fairly well known for gear noise (which I have definitely experienced myself). I haven’t run Yukon but the vendors that I have spoken with that sell both products recommend Yukon. I know these vendors very well and there is no incentive (price or otherwise) for them to sell one over the other.

Rock sliders, 3 piece skid plate, OVtune for 5.29 and 33" tires.
    2300-2500ish.

Personally I think 4.88 are better if you're never going to 35s and you don't plan on having at least 1k lbs added.

Edit: I haven't actually driven a 4.88 truck so it could be a grass is always greener situation.

I think im going to go this way as well. Leaves plenty of wiggle room if I want to make the jump to 33's or even 35's. I could care less about the high RPM on the highway, my commute is 6 miles

About 300lb added weight (sliders, alum skids, full size spare, tonneu bed mat and tools)
    E load 285/75/16 (64lbs ea)
    5.29’s W/ OVtune 2.0 5.29 91 33” tune

love it so far. I think 4.88’s would get me better gas mileage, but there are certain scenarios and hills my truck still feels underpowered so I’d say 5.29 all day. Plus I tow so it was no question.

You’ll be happy with 5.29’s and have room to upgrade later.
