Seems like this way would get in the way if you wanted to pull a trailer.

Just a thought. I have a hidden hitch arrangement and bought a flip up license plate frame - it’s for sale if anyone is looking - and figured all was good. But since I have a dual swing out arrangement the center latch actually stopped the plate from flipping up high enough to fit the drawbar into the hitch.

Keep that in mind if going with a dual arrangement and ensure that the center latch won’t interfere with it. This is my arrangement now.

Well, even though the headlight hoop install was cancelled, I wasn't going to let that keep me down! I removed the lights and all the hardware to the best of my ability. There was a bent bolt where the trailer harness mounts so I had to bust out the angle grinder and cutoff wheel. Made light work of it. Then, I loaded this heavy bastard up by myself and dropped him off at the powdercoater for some sand and fresh paint:

Happy that's done now and it's just one less thing to worry about doing. I also took the dirt designs top hat enforcement brackets for some love too.

Expecting some more snow tonight into tomorrow so not much else to do today. Just going to relax and rest up for more shoveling.

Oh and here's my TITS!

Originally, just sending a pic to him via Facebook, he told me $200-$300. I disassembled the reverse lights, I used a cutoff wheel to free a bent bolt and removed some other small pieces for the latch system like the bump stop etc. When I got there he said that since the swing out needs extra time and attention, it would be a little bit more. He said I could disassemble it and then bring it back and it would be $200. Having loaded it myself already and drove there, I was not willing to drive home with it, take it out, disassemble and then load it back in myself a second time.

Everything was there and complete for them to do. Plus they informed me they have done offroad bumpers in the past. They came highly recommended in a local 4x4 group so I made the deal.

$350 for the whole bumper, Pelfreybilt bedside brackets and the dirt designs top hat bucket reinforcement/engine hoop brackets.

Truthfully, it's crusty as fuck and I'm kinda pissed about the shape it's in. I felt guilty bringing it in such bad shape. And, to be honest, yes I could have done it myself but I would have to hold off for at least two months before I could start getting weather where I can paint the thing and have it stick properly. A one time fee and knowing it's getting done right is worth it.

He said about a week. I'm in no rush though to be honest. In the past 3-4 days we have gotten a foot to a foot and a half of snow. So, not going to be installing it anytime soon.

My front bumper is powder coated. I painted my rear bumper. I did it in late August. It was near 90 degrees, and the humidity wasn't all that high. IDEAL painting conditions.

Now it's winter. The roads have been salted a dozen times already. Anywhere that was exposed to tires flinging salt, even dry salt, look like they've been sandblasted (on painted bumper) Powder coat is untouched.

IMHO, it doesn't matter how fast, how cheap, or how convenient paint may be, powder coating is like a divorce....Worth EVERY penny it cost's.

That ol' "Buy once...Cry once" thing again...

I'm anxious to see it, that's for sure. Not much I can do for installing it at least for now haha.

I laughed way too hard at this. :bananadead:

That's a really good price for redoing that bumper, my front bumper cost more.

I was worried it wasn't haha. Thought I would get someone telling me I paid too much.

Like I said, it's worth it to me to not have to do the work myself. The thing is a bitch to move alone. Stil can't believe I managed to get it loaded up by myself.

    Talk about customer service!

I reached out to Satin and Tyler about some replacement parts for my rear bumper. Back story. On Saturday when I was getting ready to head to the powdercoater to drop off the bumper, I was removing the lights, bent, rusted and crusted bolts. Once of the items I was certain to remove was the slider piece and bump stop for the swingout. Pic below:

I sent a message to Satin and Tyler asking for replacements and Tyler replied promptly asking for an address and that replacement parts would be sent out right away. Top notch customer service and that is the reason Pelfreybilt comes HIGHLY recommended.

I also am thinking about ordering frame plates from a user on TW:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-frame-box-plate-kit.405001/

I figured that this would be a good idea with adding the weight from a full plate steel bumper and swingout etc etc.

In wanting to retain the stock spare tire carrier cross member (at least for now and the foreseeable future) and the bed to stay on the for the work, I think the best option will be the 3-piece frame plates linked below:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-frame-box-plate-kit.405001/page-8#post-13505538

I reached out and hope to hear back soon to place the order.

I don't know if there are actually any proven benefits to adding these (yes, I know structural rigidity is a pro but I am thinking actual benefits might just be for mobbing deserts or hammer down in a rock buggy), but for the peace of mind, I think the price is worth it.
