They asked what finish I wanted (satin, semi gloss, gloss, high gloss etc) and he assumed semi or gloss and I said "I'm not one of those bro-dozing mall crawlers. This thing actually sees dirt and mud. Satin please"

That's what threw them off, they thought they were getting a bunch of small parts that bolt together to make a bumper not a big hulkin chunk of steel.

Received a message from the powdercoater yesterday. I was told, the bumper "should" be ready for pick up this week. Gave me the whole line about 'would rather give you a good product late than a crappy product on time'. What about a good product in the time I was told??

They're letting me know when I can go and get it, but I told them I would like it very much if I can pick it up Friday.

I will have an extra set of hands Friday and Saturday so hopefully it is installed Friday?? There is also a local meet up Saturday afternoon that I would like to make with the bumper fully installed, but who knows. They could delay me again and I would not be surprised.

Saturday marks 7 weeks since initially dropping it off and being told 1 week.

Final message from the powdercoater, "we have been working our asses off to get this done for you". Sure seems like it buddy..sure seems like it..

I knew that would help haha

I am over it at this point. If it is not ready this weekend and they are going to delay me another week, I am going on a recovery mission.

Also, if you're not up to speed, they told me initially that they have done offroad bumpers in the past. They told me a week ago that the bumper is heavy and hard to move, yet, I loaded the bumper into the truck MYSELF and he has a team of 5 guys..

I think they specialize in painting wheels no smaller than 22"..

But in my initial inquiry to them, I asked if they have done steel offroad bumpers and they said yes.

You're not wrong and I'm pissed.

I'm just glad to have it back after them taking 7 weeks to paint something that literally took them yesterday (few hours) to complete.

    1) too shiny and clean; requested Satin finish and got some glossy shit

    2) they took no care with anything. The table hinge is missing bolts (I think that's what they use and is bent a little bit.) Also, I'm missing the support cables for the table because those are now just gone; MIA.

    3) the latching handle was not done at all when I showed up. I was told "yea we weren't sure if you wanted the grip part removed so we could paint it." So you waited until I pick it up to tell me this?? Why not call me and ask me?? "We can do it and you can pick it up tomorrow." FUCK THAT. Slice the grip off with a razor blade and paint that shit while I wait. I ordered BMX grips that I will use anyways and I'm glad I did now.

Idk why I was not contacted about the latch/grip "issue" and I'm pissed that they could not figure out what to do with it. I did not wait to wait until today to go pick it up if it was POSSIBLY done or not. With how everything went already, the handle latch piece could have taken 6 weeks to paint alone..who knows.

When we settled up, I got no tax charged to me, he paid for the sandblasting and knock off $100 because "it took a little longer than I quoted you".

Overall, I'm just happy it's back at this point. I guess I can deal with the glossy-ness just because it's finally done and ready to be installed. I already started mounting things like the license plate flip bracket, the rear lights, and test fitted the drop hitch and today I'm going to mount the trailer harness and mess with grinding down the aluminum drop hitch.

My 1 star review will be on their Facebook page sometime later today.

Ordered the ultra fine OOO steel wool and a blow gun on Amazon also. Should be here Tuesday and I will likely test it on the handle latch where it will be covered by the new grips I ordered.
