The swagless turnbuckles I had purchased were for a 1/8" cable. I bought 3/16" cable so that was a no go. I might just keep this setup and just roll with it. I think it came out pretty well and I look forward to putting it through its paces this weekend!

Haha oh! So 18-24 months ago I purchased and air hammer tool for my shackle flip and it failed me. Got a replacement and got to keep the failed tool and parts.

Anyways, I just used the air hammer flat chisel from the failed air hammer and a 2 pound sledge.

Project: "Not having to mount RTT for one overnight trip" was started this weekend.

@GARSHA91 came by to work on his deep dish Satoshi grille. While he was here, I utilized his truck and truck bed to measure and Fab the bed platform! Due to rail mounted tools and hilift, in my bed being slightly different/abundant, some configuring of those accessories might need to be reconfigured. I'm thinking the hilift will have to move to the front of the bed near the cab, or, a better idea would be to rotate my hilift mounts 90 degrees so that it sits higher up on the rail and out of the way. I need to test fit everything to my bed and then I can wrap the plywood in the carpet I purchased.

    872258A9-1393-4C7E-BFC0-C08087A133D8.jpg

Pending how permanent this setup will be, I might do a single drawer in the center. But, to be honest, if I'm going to utilize this for anymore permanent setup, I will likely rebuild the entire setup and make it look better. This is simply a test run due to such a low cost/easy setup and take down.

In talking with my brother, this setup basically allows me to setup the truck in under 5-7 minutes by myself and just go. Close to trailer status, which isn't bad, but this limits me to just one adult in the bed. If the wife starts going like she said and I hope she does, it's back to loading the RTT on the truck.

    House update:

Built another gate for the dog along the side of the house. Put it on hinges so that the AC unit can be serviced if needed. Total cost; $12 for the supplies. Had most of the items available from other projects. Needs some paint/stain but hope to match it when we do the deck.

    :pout:

Now for the not so good news.

    Carpenter ants.

Had the family contractor swing by and met with the wife to talk about some new windows in the back room of the house. He confirmed what we might have thought was the case. The wife found someone to come out tomorrow morning to bait and spray. Not looking forward to the inspection by them in hopes of finding out how bad it really is or isn't.

New windows are 3-4 weeks out. Hoping we can get them ordered ASAP.

Holy shit. So many likes haha! Thanks dude!

Yea not stoked. The worst thing is the unknown. I'm not sure how we have them. They're not inside the house anywhere on that part of the house. I checked this weekend but I will check again before they bait and spray.

It's better than the alternative/worse.. termites. I guess we will see what they say. Hope it isn't worst case scenario. But the wife and I were talking about putting in French doors on that wall..might be good timing :notsure:

I was wondering where you have been honestly..glad you're still around haha

Thanks man!! I'm stoked it's finally done and over with, but was such a pain in the ass I am almost more relieved the shit got resolved. Hopefully these dakars hold up over time, otherwise, I'll be making an order with you haha! The leaf packs look great and see to be doing well. Hope all is well otherwise!

I was checking them out when I first saw the thread. It would be nice to be able to hop in a truck and see the difference with a similar setup to mine.

Glad to hear they're gaining traction and hope they are around for a long time brother. Liek I said, I would like to test drive and see before committing to that. Dakars would be an easy sell to get some money back, so I am not worried about that at all.

Last night I had some free time and since it stopped raining, I took care of a little reorganizing in the bed for test fitting the platform:

First was the hilift and support brackets:

    41F45883-3770-4A91-AEB6-80A7B7AF33E6.jpg D4297D06-4597-4E0A-90EA-57AD60ED8DC0.jpg D3D6A83D-F55B-4F84-9987-9673897C797E.jpg

Then, was the tool and axe mounts:

Had to chop a little bit off the bottom so that the platform would just slide into place.

I hope to get everything test fitted later in the week. There is rumors that there is a half day at work Friday and that should give me time to test fit and start wrapping the plywood in the carpet I have. Hoping that I will get this finished over the weekend! :woot:
