I could be wrong but didn't @G.T. reccomend somebody when you were talking about boxing your frame or something?

    You are correct.

I have to see how far he is from me. I also reached out to another TW member who is about an hour from me. I haven't seen or talked to him for over two years. Last I was there, he did my shock relocation. I reached out to another shop as well.

I might have to suck it up and make the drive out to @G.T. for some reliable welding work.

Thanks for reminding me about the frame plates and crossed bracing too. Been meaning to sort that all out. Last I spoke to the guy, he was supposed to let me know shipping. Shooting him a text now.

Hopefully get the cam tabs and frame plates done at the same time. If I see his buddy Austin, I won't have to pay shipping either.

Things have slowed down there a little now that the tray and canopy project is finished.

He already has the main template for the plates so if you want anything custom just let him know and he can cut them on the table.

To be honest this is a service I haven’t performed so I wouldn’t know what to charge haha. $500 seems a little steep though

    F*CK YEA!

Thanks man. I hope he texts back. Hope he remembers haha if you would be so kinda as to put in a word, I would appreciate it.

Gotta see how far you guys are too. Wouldn't mind meeting up with ya'll :hattip:

I thought so too. I mean, I am by no means a welder, but it seems like a straight forward mod. Granted I've had problems with this shop in the past quoting VERY high.

I got a second opinion from another shop, local Fab guy (unknown if he still offers his welding services) and I have a fourth option up my sleeve; the guy that did my hoops. That one's going to be a little more tricky. Have to see if that was a one time deal/favor or if he would be happy to accept more work/money.

Heard back from the local TW member and he's not free until July. Totally fine with me. I get it. He's glad I decided to get the replacement cam bolt kit and I'm glad I did too. Should make the install go smooth.

Talked to my brother in law and he is ready and willing to assist with the dual battery setup :woot: should be simple and straight forward, but I'm sure it will be better to have a professional who has wired the truck and does this stuff for a living working on this.

With that all said; red top or yellow top Optima? And why?

Same. Going from a 3 and 1/2 day week last week to a full 5 day work week this week is exhausting

Have you had both? Is there a certain model number Odyssey you recommend? A quick Google search yielded the 34-1500t.

    Yes.

One of my Optimas failed in the woods. :( I hear they have improved since the slump (after being bought by Johnson Controls) but don't know of anyone who is willing the give them another chance. I ran both a red top and a yellow top.

To answer your question, if you are planning on running a winch, etc., get a yellow top. If the battery is only for starting, a red top will be fine.

The Odyssey 34R-PC1500 is the one that fits our trucks in the stock location. A 31 series will fit with an aftermarket battery cage, if that is what you want.

I just swapped in 34R - you can see it in my build thread.

I went with a 34R (as opposed to the larger 31) because I am going to run a second battery in the bed.
