Dang, you need 4’ sections? That’s longer than I thought. Are you making an X style brace back there? 2” may be a little overkill. Id think some 1.5” OD ERW tubing would be sufficient and a bit cheaper.

Frame rail to frame rail is 39". I measured in the dark last night just to get a quick number without too much grief from the wife. I am guessing I should be okay with 3' sections if I run them perpendicular to the frame, but I thought either of get 4' sections to have it if I need it than need it and not have or if I wanna run a 'X' brace with the 4' sections.

Here is what ruffstuff has unless you know of another place I can order some tubing:

    https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.co...GY&Category_Code=DOMTUBE&Store_Code=ruffstuff

With the holidays coming up, spare time to run to a junkyard/metal yard is scarce. Shipping seems close to on par with local prices anyways.

Call Chicago Tube and Iron in Romeoville, they are the cheapest place I’ve been able to find DOM, or any steel for that matter.

I don’t know of any better place to get tubing, sorry. I either get my metal through the local metal supermarket or through Joe. At the end of the day, it’s only $100 so may be worth it to just buy what you want and never second guess it.

I love how $100 seems like nothing now. But way back it did

    Thanks dude!

Also, I'm thinking that for the frame plates, I'll trace stencil from my brother's plates (yet to be installed) and then find a place to cut them for me. This mod is likely still years down the road, but prepping now can't hurt.

I'm immune to such taunts as I'm hoarding a pile of cash with the hopes that a certain company with be having a sweet Black Friday sale for a certain something that my truck REALLY NEEDS. :D

No that wall is way too thin. I meant some 1.5" OD with a 0.125 wall thickness.

Then, I guess my question is, should I use one brace or two. I am thinking 2 with a topper, gear, swingout, RTT etc. Buy once, cry once.

    Just send it.

I was thinking make a nice X in the back with the tubing. That's what I've seen others do. Actually you know what, I think @jberry813 boxed his frame and has an X style cross brace. Go peruse his thread and see what you can find. I'm about to go swap my new steering rack in that just arrived :bananadance:

I peruse his BT at least once a week. Nice to have a moderator with an actual Tacoma; even if it's just a grocery getter ;) (I kid).

I learned very early on in school projects that the strongest shape is a triangle. I guess I will need more measurements, but at least now that the supply cost are coming down a bit, I can buy more if needed.

Good luck man! Yesterday was NOT good to you ($600 spent) and all you were trying to do was fluid film all the things!!

I think @buyobuyo is boxing his frame as well.
